I have a pair of brand new Reynolds Stratos DV tubular wheels with White Bros. hubs.
They have a base layer of glue but are new. QR 110/130 Shimano 10spd. $250. Bad news? They're 650c |
I took advantage of some end of year bike sales and picked up a Trek Emonda SLR frameset. I’m glad to finally get rid of the chain stay brake caliper that is always gummed up and shave a little weight. I’ll be moving all the parts from my 2014 Madone over to the new frameset.

^hehehehe!!! I stocked up on them in the "Great sella italia slr seat market crash" of 2008! :D I had kind of forgot about it, and when I found it, it was like a present from past self to future self.
2 weeks later it was fully trashed by "present self"! Last week 50 miler in Nelson. Gettin' ready for the 200 mile gravel ride thingee in July. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1579880888.jpg |
Just (almost) finished a bike for my daughter as she heads off to college in the fall. It is a 1952 Schwinn. Original crank, hubs, frame, fork and handlebars. I did my first wheel lacing with new spokes and rims and then paint. She thinks it is pretty cool.

Nice job, dad. |
^^^Billybek. Bike theft at colleges is close to 100%. Take serious precautions! Lovely, BTW.

Bought this on eBay for less than $450 (with rebates) delivered to my driveway.
Looking forward to putting it to work in NYC metro, maybe fit an electric motor when I wear out the rear wheel. https://i.imgur.com/G1RumOq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SVkLiJX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xsgtFtG.jpg |

Don’t remember if I posted this before. 1975 or so Raleigh International I bought new, full Campy and Brooks saddle. After 6,000 miles on the back of the RV going cross country I decided to de-scuz it Yeah, the leather on the saddle is soft and well oiled like a well taken care of baseball glove. In CA you can't buy mineral spirits any more, at least not in LA, so they sell some "clean air solvent" which is basically Acetone, which isn't worth spit for degreasing, so I went and got a gallon of diesel fuel; I don't think you can buy kerosene here any more. |

A bike thread? Nifty!
Here's my road bike "fleet" these days:
2017 Ridley Fenix Disc. Carbon frame, Shimano 105 drive train. About 12,000 km during 2019. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588110029.jpg Decided to go electronic for 2020 - Trek Domane SLR 7 Project One. SRam eTap. 2,000 km in the past couple of months. I've really been enjoying the electronics, particularly being able to program the shifters. Plus the lack of cable clutter. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588110029.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588110622.jpg |
^ that's a sweet ride! I'd stretch everyday until I could put a proper Madone stem on it.
I've lowered my stem in steps over the last year and gotten it several centimeters lower than I would have thought possible. I've had severe neck pain when riding for many years and breaking my neck mountain biking in 2018 didn't help. I still have neck pain but it's not as severe as it was a few years ago even with the lower bar position. Stretching my neck almost every day now helps too. |
Windy day, social distancing/isolation ride with sketchy wheels.
