Hey- out of curiosity, who bought my Viner frame some years back (off PP) ? Did anything ever get done with it? Even if it got trashed or sold off, It would be cool to know! ;)

(I'm salivating at all these cool bikes hanging off walls)

The Gypsy just looks so much better in a Gios then the Benotto

Yep, those three bikes looked great on the wall

Most frequent question from non-cyclists when seeing the setup: my god, why do you have 3 bikes!? Answer: because I sold 4 that I didn't have room for. :)

Just ran across this and thought I'd share. I love seeing different parts of the country, and some cool bikes. Wyoming, Michigan, Ct... Columbia river, etc... Even a woman's bridgestone I used to build in the mid 80's when I worked in a bike shop! enjoy!

Emergency impromptu bikecamping pics:

From Where: not exactly known
Decided- tonight
Stardate- tommorrorrrowwww.
Weather- lows in the 20's
Highs- 30's
To Location - Not known. Some mountain on wv/va border.
Preparation- zero.
Miles- unknown

I've thrown four bottles of water's worth, a bottle of wine, a hammock tent, a bottle of advil, a sleeping bag, and some spare tires onboard a trusty rig I pulled out of a neighbor's trashcan in 1998. I will load clothing, food, and gloves/hat, and a bic lighter tomorrow.

What could go wrong? (Great adventures take risks)

Thanks for that link. A pic I took of LeMond in the 90s at MidOhio shortly after retiring from cycling. He was racing Formula Fords.

My Sram 11 speed chain was between .5 and .75 in the fall and I always like to change them out rather than changing out cassettes but couldn't find one.
I was at the Wilds of Canada bike shop in New Denver BC this fall and asked the owner (Rob) if he had a chain for my bike. "Ya, I think I just got some in"... Score!
Amazing how a new chain makes everything more better! (providing everything else is in good shape)

David 12-01-2021 07:14 AM

I change my road bike chain once or twice a year depending on how many miles I ride. Funny how quickly I forget how good a new chain shifts. One day I'll think I need to adjust my rear derailleur and then I check the date on my last chain order and sure enough, it was a season ago.

My new-to-me 2016 Specialized Stumpjumper S-Works hardtail 29". Everything in carbon, XTR Di2 groupset. Really lightweight, really stiff. Now all it needs is that its owner gets back in shape!

Sorry I can't find any cycling pictures but I do have a little history for everyone.
A long time ago in the San Diego area to start off our racing season we had a two day race, first the Willows Road Race (where Viejas casino is now) and on Sunday the UCSD criterium which I came in 4th, my best finish of 4 tries, In 1979 (I think) the Senior 1/2/PRO group took off and after 10 laps or so Greg Lemond took a flyer. NO one decided to chase so he lapped the field and then sat at the back of the pack! At the finish a rider from Colorado thought he had won......but he was second! He was really po'd.

In the week before the 1984 Olympics, Mark Gorski, about Americas best track sprinter was taking a training ride through LaJolla and ran through a stop sign. Officer who hated cyclists stopped him and gave him a ticket which the judge later threw out!

For several years there was a great criterium in down town LaJolla and it was the Seenior 1/2/PRO men and women. As I was president of the LaJolla Cycling Club I was one of the original people that thought of it along with Richard and Mike. I also road in the pace car (427 Cobra replica) and shot videos of the pace laps. There is a video I took on You Tube if you look for the "LaJolla Grand Prix Bicycle Race"!

Thanks David. Will admit that I'm very lucky to have been able to purchase this bike and look forward to many miles of riding along with my twin 19 year old boys.
