On high wear areas, I use non sticky "fusion tape".

Great looking old school DG. I knew Kyle Fleming back in the day. I think about him every once in a while and wonder what he would have been like today if he hadn't died in a train accident so early in his life.

Sid, post pics of bike and your Q's in Bike Forums Classic & Vintage section. For sure someone there will know where to get the hoods. There are some guys making custom gum replicas in small numbers. There are also modern hoods that look and fit close (search Cane Creek gum hoods).

Sorry Sid, I got overly excited about your handlebar tape and did not read the rest of the question. For early Dura Ace, Dia Comp hood should fit. The run you about 10 bucks a pair. As far as strap goes, any leather strap will do. If you want to be a period correct weenie, the get the Alfredo Binda laminated leather strap. I just look at them, and they are big bucks. I must find my NOS in my bin somewhere. Crazy.

Alright I'll research the hoods and straps tomorrow. Looked on amazon and I could get yellow cinelli cork tape for 14.99 with 2day shipping.. Since JR says this bike had yellow originally, and its a cinelli copy, i feel that is the most fitting tape.

Beautiful bike.

Crap! Why oh why do I remember stupid failures!

Byron, Take a look at the stem on the Colnago. Tell me that there's a 1/4 plug looking thing in the weld where the steerer and extension are welded up. It the plug is there the stem is OK. If not please google or head over to a long time bicycle mechanic that has worked on bikes since the early 90's

Jim, you must know a lot of guys with no teeth and busted shoulders.

Never saw the Synchros fail there's a few recalls and a few that should have been recalls that just really stick out in my head. Bugs the crap out of me that somethings just stick with me for 20 years. And I can't find my keys! WTF I'm only 46 far to young for CRS.

I switched to Speedplay pedals a couple years ago due a knee problem and I've been very happy. I had severe pain in my right knee due to a standard pedal holding my foot too straight. I switched to speedplay pedals with a 1/2" longer right and 1/8" longer left pedal spindle so my feet could point out more to their natual position and my knees have been very happy! I got fit tested after the pedal change and at the beginning of the fit test the fitter said having different length spindles was bad idea but after all the video analysis they agreed that it was just about perfect. Unfortunately you can't get the titanium spindles in the longer sizes.

I was worried the Speedplay shoe cleats would raise my shoes higher than the Shimano cleats I was using due to the Speedplay adaptor plate but they are actually a little shorter even with the adaptor.

New Speedplay Ti Zero's, Dura Ace 9000 11sp gruppo, and Zipp Firecrest 404 carbon clinchers installed! (And my wife's Trek Madone 6.9 Project One in the background)

Very nice S-Works.

I like the Zero's for long rides. I use Frogs for in-town riding.
