The oldest Survivor Monoshock i own.
A Dan Gurney.

The guy I got it from, got it for his 14th birthday in 1974, then when he turned 16, in 1976, he put it in the shed in his Mother's backyard, where it sat for decades, until I ended up with it.
Being a Dan Gurney, I had to have it to go with my other one.

But I was a fan back when they 1st came out, before we figured out that, unless you had a down hill track, they weren't very good for racing.

This level of vintage road bike geekdom is off the charts. Details are amazing. I wouldn't want to walk their walk to that level of originality, but I love it!

^^^ My brother and I had plans to attend and display bikes but too many unexpected things came up this year. Thanks for posting, I forgot about it.

I stopped under a shade tree to make a call this morning and had a little (4-5 footer) friend listening in nearby

we have a concourse from time to time when they run Eroica vintage bike ride out here in CA. I didn't ride it last time I was there but did drive up to see their concourse. Talk about a bunch of anal folks, similar to old 911 nut jobs. The set screw must be a Campy. I get that.

10 yrs ago had some guy chastising me for modifying my early 1990's trek 930 mtb. He was mad I ruined it's originality. I pulled it out of a trash can for heaven's sake.
Yup, I appreciate what they are doing, and am glad they do it, but it ain't me!

Guilty: when I built up my Gitane Team Pro several years ago, I spent months searching out and analyzing every period race photo for details. It took many months to find the correct TA water bottle cage bolts

Our Local Porsche Dealer donated this bike for our Oktoberfest Live Auction. They sell this at the dealer for a little over $11k (a bit out of my league)

My eBike. I have since switched to 3" tires vs the 4" in my photo. I also put 4 piston calipers and larger rotors. It's very big and heavy but it scoots with the 1000w motor.

I like that USD fork, much cleaner look than the normal telescopic forks or double crown forks.

^^^ Yes. Excellent company in my experience. You'll get a bike of comparable (or better) quality and components to Specialized or Trek at 1/2 the price or less.

I bought the Gravity Deadeye 29er. Single-speed, rigid frame. Very well-built frame. I've since upgraded several things on the bike. singlespeed-deadeye29er

Original parts on most bike sucks especially from 2015 on back. I don't understand the original factory BS.

Forget those guys. Everyone always have something to say. I have American made forks on older European frames and so on. Once in a while, I would get a bug up my rear and ride one of the old bikes and someone always seem to come along with a mouth full. Half of them can't ride straight so I go on my way. There's a crack on my old ITM stem, so it was replaces with a Ritchie (?) WCS and a modern Shimano bar. They sure felt the thorn between their finger nails. Hey even if you bought the bike new, swap out parts is as normal as eating breakfast.

Thanks Curt . I'm looking at a Gravity myself. All the goodies and half the price.

I hate this guy^^^

I wanted one so badly back in 85. I think I told you, our club has 6 or 7 of them given to their top riders. We were sponsor by Gitane. Sadly I / we were only a couple of pimpled faced teenagers swimming in the same pool with a couple of Olympic hopefuls or state champs.

^^^ I do too. Because I sold it to some guy in South Carolina 6-7 years ago Probably should've kept that one - I put a ton of time & effort into building it absolutely correctly. Ugh.

Another one of my wallhangers. Nice but nothing really special, so probably not worth building up. I think it's a 2001.

Bought the chain stretch measurement thingee. Was scared all my chains were stretched beyond belief. Surprise! At least 8 weren't. Spent the whole afternoon waxing the survivors. Tossed a bunch out. I shouldn't have to buy a chain for the older bikes ever again!
