CF sellers are mostly flakes, I wouldn't trust them to pack correctly or even to actually ship the goods. The ones who are the real deal, they decided to put that item on CL for a local sale versus another item they decided to put on eBay and ship. Note prices and demand in SF are high enough, they probably don't need to bother shipping.

Oh god. I want that. I'd be ashamed to ride it at my usual 20 mph, but I'd just sit on it in my house.

Those things ruin a bicycle.
Unsafe at any speed. Just like a Corvair! IMHO : ) |

I avoid anyone with aeros installed while riding on a group ride. If they actually use them, I'll peel off... I make one exception for a lady who broke both elbows and needed an alternative to putting weight on her joints all the time. She's also several time Il. state TT champ and can handle the bike.

Gee thanks for your unsolicited opinions....now get off my lawn.
I use them due to a bad back....I also don't ride or drive in groups as inevitably there is at least one wanker who is trying to kill me. Being able to lean farther forward takes the stain off my shoulders and the ruptured discs in my lower back. I can't bend over or lift much weight but I can ride in that position. I modify them with extensions under the armrests. Bet you two nannies wouldn't like that either.....

I had a set of aero bars on my first fast bike. They were exactly the ones that Byron posted. I had grip-shift on mine. Thanks for the post, Byron. Brought back some good memories!

I had the adjustable length w/flip elbow rest Profile aero bars. Added weight and ugggly but never had an issue with them. I would swap them between a few bikes depending on the ride. Great for flat lander centuries. Used them on a classic steel Colnago having down tube shifters too. Come to think of it, still might have them stashed away. Time to pull them out and 'scare' you roadies...haha

I've never used aero extensions. Why are they less safe?
Speaking of aero riding posture, I've been trying to flatten my back. I think I'm reasonably flexible in the hips, my problem is more that my knees get too close to my torso when I'm low with a flatter back. My seat is usually pretty far back, to get enough cockpit length, and on my main bike, I can't drop the handlebar low enough, those things don't help. Maybe my midsection is also too ample. On the gym spin bike, I've experimented with setting the seat all the way forward and dropping the bar as far as it will go, and it works okay.

Those aero bars and rest could be helpful for someone like the gal on the left.

Elbows and weight centered making turning not optimal, newbies wobble in a pack, the bars don't help. Hands are away from brakes and shifters, you're also kinda locked in and don't react as fast as you would with hands on the hoods, tops or on the drops...

Pretty good deal on an older eye catcher, Vitus with Campy. If anyone wants it I can help, as it is local.
Don't know the seller or anything else...it's an anonymous CL ad. ![]() Vintage Vitus 979 52cm Campy Complete Road Bike - $500 (Laguna Niguel)

![]() Neat old bike. Actually a 74 Paramount with full NR, but someone did a good repaint and labeled it a Raleigh. I have it on ebay now, as its about 12cm too large for me...
