Beautiful and expensive piece of wall art.

$400 retail back in '72 IIRC.

That Paramount is classic. I was searching for a vintage Brooks saddle and thats what came up - hah.

Other: Anyhow, just tonight I found a speeeectacula' buy and must get. Don't want to jinx the deal until its in my paws. Sub 19 pounder to start, considered near new MY 2010 to be had for a ridiculous $150 to $175... and the 105 groupe is just fine with me. Will be a DD ride. Trick ally tight geometry w/ carbon fork, dressed with decent goodies. Thanks to it not on the net but rather sitting at a shop, otherwise it would have been gone. Thats all I'm revealing for now.

Just scored this '10 Giant Rapid 1. 105 group including a dual use SPD pedals, Mavic hoops 700 x 25 rubber (thinking of some 32C knobbies and try some off-road). Same bike as the Defy road model but this has flat bars and much wider gear set.

$162.

When I worked in a Schwinn shop in the 80s, the owner's wife had a Chrome ladies Paramount. If anyone is interested a buddy has talked about selling his 1988 SCHWINN PARAMOUNT

50TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION

Not his, but you get the idea..

^^^ Not CL but from a pawn shop. Big city pawn shops are loaded with stuff these days. This one was sitting in an overflowing back room storage. Making an offer was encouraged and appreciated by them! It checked out with legit paperwork, recorded serial number and I have a receipt... just in case.

A few weeks ago I passed like a dummy for a vintage Motobecane chromed with early DuraAce for an asking $300. Probably could have had for under $200.

As posted in my 'quest for a mountain bike' thread:

Bought it & picked it up this past Sunday. It's a Kona Dew Plus. It does have front shocks - don't know if its an upgrade - didn't see any other Dews with front shocks...Disc brakes may take some getting used to... $400 with the lights, bags, extra tires, & pump. Will get it tuned up this week at a local bike shop.

Let's ride!

Q: Does anyone know of a bar-end design that converts a flat bar to a road bike drop?

I realize an entire swap to a conventional road bar could be done, but I don't want to swap controls and this bike will be a multi-use. Road to some off-road almost cyclocross.

Progress

Cleaned up a little today. The chain rings are splitting, the deraillers and stem are ugly but functional. The fork is almost completely de chromed. This is going to be a blast to ride!

I have some grease leftover from when I rebuilt the cv joints, I'm just going to use that.

That's probably better than Campy grease. I use my tub of Mobil 1 bearing grease for everything - cars, bikes, cooking, sex.
