I have this 1975 Motobecane Le Champion I bought new back in the day. Also, have a second set of wheels with Campy low-flange hubs, and a Campy tool set from that era. Also, have the original freewheel, the smaller gear-set on it was perfect for my capabilities (not much!). The color-matching Silca pump still works, the 17 year old Clement tires still hold air. The old leather shoes were Eddy Merckx Adidas brand I believe. Thinking of selling it, here it is after 17 years of storage, dust and all! I lived on this bike back in the '70s and '80s, cleaned and greased all the bearings each season. Wheels turn like they're brand new. Any idea what it's worth? Thanks.

^^^ Neat bike with some soul. Shoes look great with it. If it were me, couldn't think of selling it but perhaps pass it on to a family member??? Someone would surely appreciate the originality and keep it preserved.

Dollar value guideline:
Motobecane Le Champion 64cm Road Bicycle Campagnolo Rigida Made in France | eBay

and this almost new:
1973 74 Motobecane Le Champion Reynolds 531 Campagnolo Brooks Professional | eBay

Larger and or smaller frames can hinder value a bit. Tools could bring over a $100. Shoes might be the surprise for commanding dollars. I just shipped a vintage pair of ATB leather hightops (1980's early Nike) to Aus. for a tidy amount so you never know. Lastly, breaking the bike down brings a whole lot more for the money but would be a crime in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, no one in the extended family wants it, too many youngans with their electronics. I doubt any of them ever leave the house in the summer!

LOL- and have you noticed when driving past homes, schools, playgrounds no kids playing summer baseball for fun (non-league), pick-up basketball, grudge football anymore?! Whaz-up with these lazy kid's today?

check your PM... if you want to part with those stinky, ratty loved german leder Adidas shoes, they might go well with my '59 Higgins Clubman work in progress.

I've been a Campy fanatic my whole life. But this 7400 gruppo was eye-opening. Bulletproof stuff requiring little to no adjustment and fiddling! My brother has a Merckx Motorola team bike (Dag Otto Lauritzen's race-ridden team bike, not a replica) and it has off-the-shelf 7400. If it's good enough for the pros ....

Holy batcrap. That is way cool. Looks like TSX? I had a Max Motorola replica, but the tubeset was lost on me, I'm riding a 50 at 135 lbs. Still, I covet that bike and a 7 11 Merckx or Serotta.

Dag Otto? I have a jersey signed by him after the Richmond team TT (actually, the whole squad-Phinney, Walton et al)the year he won Tour de Trump thats framed and in my x's media room, gotta steal it back.

As to the meat of your thread, I rode nothing but Campy for 20 yrs and was gifted a D/A 7900 (last year of external cablse) bike, and I have to say that its flawless. I miss the thumb lever occasionally, and once or twice I brake while looking for the big ring, but other than that, its like buttah.

Nice vintage bike......but......"Huffy" kills it for me. Didn't actually Serrota build the frames?

When I was young, a Huffy, built POSs that no one in my hood would be caught dead on.....think "fat chick/moped syndrome....."

Yeah, Huffy was just the money man. Bikes built by Serotta, except for Hampsten's Huffy that he had built by Land Shark (Historic Pro Bike: Andy Hampsten's 1988 7-Eleven Huffy Giro D'Italia | Cyclingnews.com
