sub bub bad boom -------

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/29/nyregion/29bikes.html?_r=2&scp=2&sq=bicycle+stereos&st=nyt&oref=slogin&

biker gang is roaming the streets of Richmond Hill, Queens. This crew of mostly teenagers can be seen riding along 103rd Avenue just west of the Van Wyck Expressway. The bikes roar, but the booming sound has nothing to do with engines — because there are no engines. They are ordinary bicycles, not motorcycles, although these contraptions look and sound more like rolling D.J. booths. They are outfitted with elaborate stereo systems installed by the youths.

puts out 5,000 watts and cost about $4,000,” said Nick Ragbir, 18, tinkering with his two-wheeled sound system, with its powerful amplifier, two 15-inch bass woofers and four midrange speakers. It plays music from his iPod and is powered by car batteries

^ Mike - Nice. Review or comments?

Was just at a LBS and found a 26" S-works M5 ht w/ Rock Shox SID - carbon crown, full XTR, C.King headset, carbon bars, T. Ritchey bits, Mavic (forget what rims - but very trick) tubeless set-up. NO disc but frame and fork could accept, although hubs are not compatible for disc. High quality build. I checked it on a scale and was tip over 20 lbs. without pedals..... likey!

Realizing its not a 29er, unknown year, on consignment and is in perfect brand new condition. Thoughts on the 29 vs 26? Price?

jyl- Afraid you're more practical thinking then I and probably right. To get it, would have to add three C notes. Reality is its well dated in bike trends yet its build, components, size and lightness is drawing me in.... fork alone fetches $400 to 500, so in a way might be a fair buy??

Another foot of snow on the way but I've got to try a new 29 HT demo. For $800, most 29's are beastly heavy. Seems $2k is just the start in considering any light 29er.

Where else besides NY will Nelson Vail's movie be shown? Damn... just look at him! 1984. Would probably psych out competitors.
