Got some new tubes for my bike. Went riding with daughter!

p.s.- calling all bmx geeks- I need a blue diacompe mx (short arm length - I think) brake caliper. Also blue levers.

N+1 for free

This weekend I did a gravel ride, something I enjoy a lot (Gravel Metric, Waterman, IL). Didn't finish building up my all-rounder for it, so at midnight the night before I put my "road bike" in the stand, took off the fenders and 32mm tires and stuffed in the 42mm Cazaderos from the other bike. Zip-tie pump mount to seat tube, borrow second bottle cage from another bike, swap Zimbale saddle bag for Acorn saddle bag, took 30 minutes.

It was like discovering a whole new bike! I loved it. All the things it is on the road - fast, nimble, comfortable, stable - it is on gravel. Plenty of hero gravel, but also rougher/looser stuff, muddy grass doubletrack, plain grass. Also I think it looks kinda boss.

After telling everyone how safe my ride to work is and how little exposure to car traffic, some ass clown runs into me on one of the bike/pedestrian bridges.
There is work being performed on the underside of the bridge deck and the bike lane width is reduced in 3 or 4 places along its length.
I saw this guy coming, slowed down as he was closer to the narrow area. It was so weird how he just kept drifting over towards me while I was yelling at him "heads up, heads up, heads up". Crash....
Great googly moogly. If he hit a kid on a little bike instead of me, it would have been much more serious.
A little sore and cut up. Thought I had separated my shoulder at first and my knee took most of the blow from his bars.
After I could walk again I rode up the hill and home.
Still can't believe it.

Was he drunk? Glad you're okay Bill. We ride a lot of MUPs & people walk around like they are the only people on earth. When I come up on families, I slow to a crawl to get around. Teenagers seem to be the worst, especially when wearing headphones.

He had his earbuds in and was pedaling heads down on the bridge. He seemed pretty surprised (no kidding) and kept saying "I didn't see you"! Well crap, I saw him from the moment he rode onto the bridge, then had the pleasure of seeing him very close up!

Didn't smell any booze on him but who knows.

I am damn sore this morning.

New bike day is always a great day.

Quiring custom Ti 29er hardtail. Paragon drops, takes me less than 10 minutes to convert from 1x11 to Single Speed.

Scott Quiring the building is a personal friend and a artist at welding Ti, feels real good to support a friend and have a work of art that is a rocket all at the same time.

Moots made lugged steel touring frames. Before they went to welded titanium. Who Knew?

Kevlar wheel discs, and the lady owner looks fit enough to ride it (and she does).

Someone needs an ivory RB-1 to complete the set. However, I don't think they made them.

Dang! Glad you're OK.

Had a similar situation and near hit last year. Mental case his & her couple riding against the road traffic. Fortunately in a low vehicle count area and through a state park.

I'm cruising along, riding appropriate on the right. Clown couple is easily spotted far ahead and they see me, approaching head on. The female decides to ride across the roadway to the opposite and CORRECT lane. Though not done with her yet....

Male continues head on towards me and not sure what to do. Weave's left and right.

Then the stupid woman decides to cross all the way back and join clown partner. Though she merges a bit back to the center line of the road - LOL!

The male just in the nick of time passes my left, going opposite direction. Retard.

---------
Once in awhile I'll spot some couple to even a young family out on a busy highway, all riding against the traffic. I cringe.
