I'm thinking about going with some buds of mine. No more P-car, so it'll be my BMW or the new Tiguan.
Where's the best place in the infield? |

They have ruined this race with the carnival atmosphere in the infield. You can buy an infield pass, but that doesn't mean you will get in there. All about generating cash flow - I know. I liked it better when it wasn't so popular.

I'm happy that Daytona still retains the relationship with PCA after all these years. Last I checked, there isn't any other car club with beach front (re infield with grandstands) property at the track.
I know last year we received a lot of complaints because they had closed access to the infield but the PCA corral still had room. While some managed to sweet talk their way in, others got shut out. At least this way, even way the infield is closed, someone with the PCA corral pass can get in. |

bought my AutoTrain ticket for Wed, arrive Thurs, got the PCA corral pass, though I hope it is better than the $$ I spent at VIR. Coming back AutoTrain on Monday. Looking to stay somewhere, the Best Western Tiki something hotel looks reasonable. Are there any hook up spots for Pelicaners Thurs or Fri before the race?

course not all PCA regions are flush with ca$h..I was part of the original crew who set up the paddock, and we use to work our tails off, but it was worth it. Now, with the changes to the infield, they have killed the original Spirit of the race, and I remember when they took the HorseShoe away from the regular fans and turned it in to Gated RV park (only reopening to the general race fans after Tunnel.. Between that & the expanded fair ground, they have really limited the old school fans. Sad thing is, every one of use who would spend the weekend at the track would spend a lot of money, too much between models, food & drink (when you could easily walk all over the place, you would buy instead of going back to your car). All the paddock passes are gone.....
Keep in mind that it wasn't extra to buy, it was the same price as standard infield parking..... Now the $14 to mail my tickets to me is........

Wow! Really? In 2011, I was there with my kid. It was totally last minute...I probably bought tix about this time. I got into the paddock, infield, PCA Corral (parked elsehwere infield, drove my BMW) no problem. We rode the shuttle to watch from the stands for a while and then came back. No issues. Didn't realize so much has changed....is it the ALMS merge that caused this?

Oh. I wish I lived a little closer and could drive my Targa around Daytona in January. That'd be cool. There was som real nice hardware there. Even outside the corral. Someone had a Delorean. Right next to their motor home. There was an article in pano on some sisters that restored their dad's car Peter Gregg car...saw them driving around. Never saw Byron. Of course I don't know what he looks like.

VaSteve, get on the AutoTrain and come on down. I read the part where someone said it was too rocky, jostly or something to sleep, but I think it is worth the pain to get to the race

I'm going to a DE in Savannah two weeks after, so my vacation funds are limited. Also, I'll be at a different race that day...pinewood derby! Maybe next year.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and the race. |

on the PCA corral passes, call the speedway directly. I did last week and they still had them available. No problem. Get the pass and a four day ticket.
