One of the main functions of brake reservoir hose is to keep water OUT of the brake fluid. Brake fluid (non silicone) is hydroscopic and will pull moisture through most hoses.
Water in your brake fluid doesn't matter does it ? |

It's a darned good thing they don't put a vent on top of the brake fluid reservoir, pretty soon the reservoir would be overflowing with water!

Brake fluid attracts moisture, (eventually), but not through an impermeable hose. That's silly.

if I need an OEM part I'll get it here at Pelican but there are times that sanity prevails aka OEM catalytic converter OEM price, about $1600 I went to Pep Boys and found a generic cat with the same OD and broke out my oxy/aceltyne torch and my sawzall and did it my self on a Saturday in my garage Peb Boys wanted about $200 SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL AMPHIBIAN ![]() while I was at it, I welded in the resonator from my 88 doner car |

a bone stock 86 944 with a 8 valve engine is a slow car by today's standards I wouldn't be surprised if a new base model Honda Civic is faster my car is basic transportation so spending an extra $1400 for a hypothetical 2 or 3 ponies I find hard to justify |

Catalyst efficiency has improved since 1988, I bet the generic new one is actually better than the OEM part.

so what other evil things have I committed..
when I replaced my clutch last year (by the book I may add, bought the kit here and had the the flywheel ground) I bought new boots for the CV joints. When I put them together, I didn't bother putting the balls back in their original position. I just threw them in any ol' way I wanted and put the axels back in (with new bolts and I torqued them) |
