There was a 20 something guy on the snow holding his wrist on the bunny hill. I don't think I am durable enough to learn boarding at this stage of the game. OTOH, my little guys lesson was a complete success. Have fun and don't ski tired, too sore or too impaired! I never drink until I am done. Going to ski next week!k

Just got back from alta, snowbird, and the canyons. Conditions were great, very cold but great snow. Please don't get a go pro camera. Even my daughter remarked that when you see middle aged women taking snow board lessons with a go pro mounted, they might be over used.
my kids demo'd some nice powder skis but I brought my own. Their skis were so nice I would do the same next time. Just bring the boots.

Haha no go pros in our group. None of us are good enough. I have a some pretty solid all mountain skis (Volkl Mantras). If we get dumped on, I will demo some rockered powder skis.

Had a great day at Stevens Pass yesterday with my daughter. No wind, nice base, bands of fresh snow through out the day with sun breaks. Heaven.

I think Song is operating but haven't heard of Mystic. Lake effect snow has been pretty productive since just before Christmas. We have had a couple of 10+ inch snowfalls and get an additional few inches every night. It's not Alta or Heavenly but we take what we get back here. At least it's not blue ice. I'll be skiing Whiteface and Sugarbush later this month.

![]() At a peak at Snowbird. I can appreciate snowboarding, but can't see any real advantage over skiing, especially with the new ski technology. Being able to go down the slopes completely free with either foot allowed to go where ever you please seems more freeing then going down on one board with both feet fixed. The skis they sell now are almost as wide as early snowboards. Only my opinion and you can't go wrong either way. Also went to Alta which is skier only. Seemed plenty of the groomed slopes stayed that way up to noon. No boarders scraping off the snow! Last edited by 89911; 01-05-2013 at 09:43 PM.. |

Hey, stop the cracks about middle aged women on boards. I learned when I was 35. My snowboard instructor was a 24 year old male. He told me that he doesn't see a lot of women learning, let alone "older" ones. Thanks, kid.
I bought a board and love it! Yes, learning was pure heck. I definitely think if I was younger I would be much better at it and my learning curve would be steeper. But to tell you honestly, I just love to be up there. Carving and cruising the hills. Nothing fancy. I love watching the kids in the park though. Some amazing stuff. I did a couple hard face plants trying to learn my toe edge. On time I thought I broke my googles and nose because I hit it so hard but didn't. Thank God I had my helmet for a couple of those falls. I seriously wouldn't doubt that I would have had a concussion without it. Yeah, you don't have to be going fast to eat it. HARD. |

heh heh. I wish. But usually guys (it's almost always a guy) who come in with trans-scaphoid perilunate dislocations or gnarly distal radius fractures from snowboarding and skateboarding are also the kind of guys who don't have insurance or any desire to pay their bills.

What are you using them for? I thought you've not been snowboarding yet?
