Lots of you have it worse than we do. Maybe because everybody in KS already has guns? I was at our local Cabelas yesterday, and while they were definitely picked over the shelves were by no means bare. They only had one base model Bushmaster AR, but they still had a wide variety of semi-auto handguns. Including a really nice lightly used Sig P226 that I'm trying to resist. I picked up a couple of boxes of 9mm to shoot this weekend, they had stock in just about everything except for .223.

BTW, got my P226 at Cabela's for $495 with night sights. It was used, but looked unfired and untouched. I later had Robar put NP3 on it and it now has the E2 grips.

That's a good price. I've seen them as low as $395 for pretty used when the police turn-ins were common. I have the .40 and .357SIG barrels. It's a fantastic gun. Everyone should have one. But a P220 is even better.

the old econ rule of supply and demand are werking against any of us SCAR OPERATORS.................
DOD SCARS(all) mfg'd in USA. civilian versions made in belgium. belgium factory on strike. and U.S. factory for all mags is obviously behind production schedules. any all mfg's of scar mags have been swamped, backorders everywhere. backorders canceled, blah blah. basically if ya didnt jump like WE DID the day after the shooting, yer screwed! AND WE MEAN SCREWED! LIKE FOR-EVAR! THE PRICES WE HAVE SEEN ARE ASTOUNDING FOR THESE! i honestly think btwn end of year production slowing down, the shootings, mfg's/distributors being wary of stocking shelves on items that will be banned, the hysteria................its the perfect storm for a hell of a lot of people. all i know is i sure as hell am glad we saw this coming years ago, and have been astute to items that we needed that are evil. remember anything FDE(fresh dark earth) colored is WAY MORE ACCURATE and EVIL than anything mfg'd black! i swear!

There are really no guns available other than shotguns at WallMart. The local gun shop has been closed since before Christmas. No inventory. |

Fint, keep an eye on slickguns.com. They have some smoking deals pop up there. It's an aggregator for the best deals everywhere and updated daily.
Also, SIGforum.com has a super classifieds section. The moderator there is very quick to ban folks (he loves to ban trolls) and has made it clear there will be zero tolerance for outrageous prices by folks who only use the classifieds to sell and don't contribute to the forum. If I won the lottery, I could do all my shopping on that page.

Thanks! Good info. Candy store is not good for me as I really don't know what I am doing. Although I have played military most of my life...I had no options other than what the guy in the armory issued me. I always hunted with the pump shotgun my grandfather left me. I was surprised that nice handguns were still available at a reasonable price...even in Kansas. Although I could carry without one now because of my work, I am looking at getting a CC permit and spoon for when I retire. I am thinking a Sig 9mm like the 226 above might be a good choice...or maybe even something smaller.

If you want anything more than a single stack SIG and must be in 9mm, keep the P228 and P229 in mind. A P226 is full size. I CC it once in a while at 6 o'clock IWB, but it's bulky. If you can live with single stack, my P239 is the most accurate gun I've ever shot.
