I don't even bother to go online and block the number. I just save it as a spam contact and select as ringtone "silent". That way it does not bug me at any time aside from seeing that they called when I pick up the phone later. Eventually these die off. I get them every year or so. Promotions or other scams.

Steve - you changed the question -- the issue is pretending to be an attorney, and it is illegal & a very bad idea

I didn't change my question, I responded to your reply. I'm sure it's illegal and for me and couldn't care less. What they're doing is illegal and the reason I would fake a letter to them from an attorney. I can't picture anyone pursuing me in any legal way for sending them a fabricated letter with some believable language that an attorney would use. Please tell me how this is a bad idea?

Telling them an attorney will sue them? Right. They won't even flinch. They get told that 100 times a day.

For my own entertainment~ I would like to see where 'pretending to be an attorney' is illegal.

Think of the children.. Playing 'make believe' and what not.

It's only a year in jail - no biggie.

Like you say, you may not even get caught, and if you are the prosecutor and then the judge may let you off easy.

That is what I do

If it is bothering you, write them a letter on your own stationery and indicate your fees for telephone consultations, send it certified. If you have a buddy that is an attorney, have them send the letter. Companies doing shady stuff are always at risk of litigation. Some pretty stiff penalties for what they are doing too.
