I had a '71 S once with 40 some odd thousand miles on it.
After the odo spun over probably twice. That's a great car for someone with deep pockets, but if it has only 42,000 miles on it total, I'll eat a square inch of the engine padding. Just send it on up to Long Beach. Did you say no rust? Nevertheless, congratulations for letting the car find you, as someone put it. It's in good hands. |

Kind of strange that someone would buy an expensive sports car like that and park it at 5 years old w/o regard to the condition of the storage. Don't get me wrong, it could be a lot worse as in rusted-out, but that dash looks like it must have been parked outside in the desert for years. Also, what's the story with the rattle-can primer all over the body?
Once again, not knocking the car. I'm as jealous as everyone else and it's a great resto candidate. Just wondering what happened. |

The speedo on my 70S broke at 44k which it still shows and I have numerous shop receipts showing the same mileage and that it was never repaired. I know my car had over 100k judging from the wear on the carpeting and the pedals, the shape of the aluminum trim, etc and it was parked in storage in 85 till I bought it. It looked much better than this one.
Looks to me like this car was hit in the rear pretty hard to have bent up that rear over rider like that. The rear deck lid has been replaced with a later unit. Makes me suspect that the rear license panel has also been replaced. All of the bumper trim has been painted black over the aluminum. The headlight trim rings have been painted in body color which makes me question the original paint. The aluminum bumper end trim on at least one side looks like it is ready to fall off like it had been removed at one time. Another indication of a possible re paint. Maybe in the jambs its original... I also see what appears to be blue overspray in the engine comp. on some of the harness and one the CDI panel components A good indication of low original miles would be the condition of the aluminum rocker trim and the rear bumper end trim. They get pitted by road debris. |
Man, you guys are HARD on him. He never said it was original paint. I would be more than happy have this blue targa to go with my 69S Coupe.
