What catagory does this individual fall under?
Given the extent of his dual methodology, I'd think #2, FWIW.

This guy is not reformable or releasable into society. He deserves to rot in prison and think about the awful despicable things he did to those young women --- every single day for the rest of his life. I have 2 daughters and the thought of what happened to those girls is horrifying. Zero sympathy for him. Let him rot.

Another Forum that I look at says that he should be tied up and left for the other inmates.

The inmates get icecream for everyday that they let him live.

So is this an extreme case? It is infact the one we are talking about.. so if reform is not an option in your opinion why did you even bring it up?

Twice words have been put in my mouth.
Reading comprehension. Geez. Please.

The same support of expensive inhumane detention goes well with the ideology of 2+ million american prisoners jailed at $50k/per, and Guantanamo at $1M/per.

Really, what deterent would a lifetime in jail have for this type of limited crime?
Is the next Dalmer going to say "oooh, I might go to prison, better not?"
Why should taxpayers bear the burdeon?

Maybe you as a mom will sleep better knowing one dirtbag is off the streets, and the world's problems are solved, but statistically your children will face more threat to life-and-limb from other sources. Like crossing the street.

You brought up/suggested reform...no one else.

No, I won't sleep better knowing there are many other people just like him out there but, he got caught and I will feel better about this situation specifically when he spends the rest of his days held captive by rapist. ..it will make me chuckle a bit too.

I personally would never want to take the life of a human being-

However I could put a bullet into this guy and then sleep like a baby

This guy should not cost taxpayers a dime nor get a long trial and book deals, movies etc. Kill the freak.

50K a year can be better spent on education.

My gut reaction is that the death penalty is too good for him but, since he'll probably sit in prison for years before they actually kill him... I could live with that

What is/are the function(s) of incarceration in our society?

1. Rehabilitation
2. Punishment for one's crimes
3. Protection of law abiding citizens from violent or repeat offenders
4. Deterrent to others

I suppose it depends on the crime and the individual that committed the crime. In this instance I figure rehabilitation and deterrent are non-factors. So, I'm focused on # 3 & 4.

What is the cost to society to keep him locked up versus the risk that once free he will do this again? As a tax payer I'd rather see my taxes go to incarceration of violent criminals than some other gov't expenditures we fund.

I have no problem whatsoever with public hangings as a deterrant to future kidnappers/pedophiles.

I have a longer list of qualifying crimes for public hanging, but yes-

I highly doubt the threat of being hanged (or stoned, beaten, beheaded, etc...) in a public setting will deter the demented mind of anyone capable of such horrific crime. There are many levels of twisted and this Ohio dude is pushing the bar higher - IMO. Folks should not relish in the punishment but instead the removal of the criminal.

As much as I am not for public display I do advocate a quick and discrete disposal in cases like this. No headlines, photos, just a quick disappear act. Never to be seen or heard again.

I'm not sure it can be measured the deterrent effect public punishment has.

An eye for an eye, lets just keep it simple, and that way the punishment fits the crime.

Yes!

No reform needed here. The very minute that this or any other criminal of this nature is found guilty they should be executed in the same fashion as their victims.
