Open the door panel.
Disconnect the door lock actuator wire. Or try Down, Back, Down, Forward, Triangle (Jump)

It is for the pickup without the door keypad. If you have the keypad on the outside of the door, like my F350, the procedure is different.

My F-150 now has 42,000 miles on it, just about time for plastic ford crap to start breaking.
I filled up with gas a couple days ago and closed the gas filler door, only to hear it go crack and now it flops around like a 90 year old man searchnig for his blue pills. Prolly gonna be a dealer only item. Damfords. |

My last F-250 had the keypad on the door which I considered one of my favorite features on any vehicle I've ever owed or driven. I would lock my keys in the truck, intentionally, every time I parked it. I hate carrying keys, (or pretty much anything else), around in my pockets.

Interwebs search shows that broken fuel door is a common furd problem.
Never had a fuel door break on my chebby or toyota trucks ............. $137 to get it fixed at the stealer, but the part is availalble for about $30 and takes 15 minutes to swap out. EDIT: part cost $41 on flea-bay, but free shippin. You can always tell a part is a common breakage item when there are three pages of them for sale on flea-bay.

I've owned various Fords for the past 20 years Explorers, Mountaineers, F 1-250s... The autolock only worked when the vehicle was shifted into drive? the way mine were set up they never locked the doors automatically until engine on shift into drive.. The keypad on the door is the shizzle....

My 80's VW GTI (years ago) would not let you push the button down on the drivers door to lock, you needed to use the key. My current GTI has keyless entry (keyless everything actually) it knows the keys are in the car and will not let you lock the car if they are in there (via the hand swipe method). The keyless system and I have issues with each other, but at least it won't let me lock the keys in the car, same as 30 years ago.....
Can't say the same for my Cayenne. NEVER get out of that without the keys in your hand....

Hold on - technically, it IS possible, but you'd have to lock the driver's door from the inside, crawl over the gear lever and exit from the passenger door, locking it behind you. It is not possible to lock the driver's door from the outside without the key. Cheers d.

Our Durango locks the doors when you start it and unlocks when you shut it off. It will not lock the doors if you start it with a door open: IE reaching in to check for leaks after an oil change.
The doors will not lock when you press the button if a door is open and a key is in the ignition.

A '99 7.3L auto door-lock feature that still works? Our 2001 f350, greatest truck ever made btw, doesn't have that feature. In fact, the power door locks don't even work. Plus, we never lock the doors anyway, living the good life out in the country. Even when we go to 'town', keep the doors unlocked. On the other hand, our 2010 Jeep Commander and it's auto door-lock feature is about to drive us nuts. But, one can disable those, since we have no kids, gonna get out the book to get 'er done.

Aren't there bells or buzzers going off as soon as you open the door with the key in the ignition?
