Sounds too cheap for only $10K. Is there an ad posted or pics of it?

The guy I got the info from bought one of the tow trucks from the wife. His best drinking buddy is her brother. The buddy told my buddy his sister said she was selling the Ranchero. Any other info I know of the car I posted.

I just got the wife's phone number and left her a message asking to come over to take pictures of the car for Joe Bob. With those I'll get as much info about the car as I can.

Mustangs from the 60s don't handle worth a damn, they were built off the Fairlane platform IIRC.

So, which 50 year old car meets with your approval?

You base your judgment on some check book builder? A fool & his money are soon parted regardless of the car.

That said, driving the Mustang in its present form was a dreadful experience.
I plan to fix that......with no help from your ex BIL or his minions.

Yeah, that two and a half ton wagon should handle better than any Mustang.

I think the Mustang was based on the Falcon platform, IIRC.

Falcon, Fairlane....both start with an F......anyways, the seller is flaking.....don't feel like a 1,000 mile trip at the moment.

Seller says the ride is 2 hours away, stopped answering emails......I guess I'll take a look around locally.

Went and looked at the car today. It is dusty from being in the shop and needs a bath. Details are as follows: Its a 59, 429 from a 69 Thunderbird. Power windows and seats. Gas tank has a leak if you fill it all the way up but they have a new tank to replace it. They had it out to repair but whoever did the repair missed a spot and they bought a new tank. Carpet is in the box. The floor pan was replaced and the carpet never went back in. Car sounds good. Several spare parts (windshield, dash ect). Car looks brown but in sunlight more copper metallic.

Or I load it on my car hauler and meet up with a transporter heading West from Minneapolis in either Grand Forks, ND or Fargo and they deliver it in a couple days. Do a "request quote" on U Ship to see what it would cost.

Totally dig the Ranchero, cool car. Though I hope the overspray isn't indicative of the overall workmanship elsewhere.

That Ranchero could be a project, but might be worth it.

Thinking back when I paid $700 for a mint 45,xxx mile 1959 Galaxie 4 door w/ 332c.i. - old lady owned with clear vinyl seat covers. LOL

Yeah I'd agree even the best in the bunch mustangs from Maier Racing are pretty sloppy and slow compared to well setup Porsches. For life of me never understood why someone would want old hunk of junk other than for nostalgia? But hey plenty folks still willing to put a crater in their wallets to buy these things so there must be something to it. I missed out on whole muscle car thing growing up in 60s and 70s being in a Porsche household. We sort of had a disdain for overweight ugly Mercian crap and I still feel that way. Best of luck to those who think solid axles and a big iron block over front wheels is cool. Nothing like signing up for something that is sure to disappoint even after thousands invested in suspension. Best off just leaving them stock and driving them in parades.

Some of us are "car guys" first and foremost. Not all that is automotive, revolves around eurocar snobiness...

Well, good for you. Some of us like the fact we can go fast for cheap and build it ourselves...There is an element of creativity that hot rods bring that the typical Euro car doesn't have.

Personality, you know.

PS in case you care, I see Jap cars as overpriced, disposable, soulless tin- I don't care what it is.. YMMV

I simply think owning a ride that was made when I was born would be cool.

The Ranchero is neat but is a 59.....
