And it's odd you asked a few posts back, speeder, but I do like the looks for the turbo quite a bit more than the regular 996. Not that I think the 996 is a bad looking car, but the subtle changes to the turbo's seem to make a big difference to my eyes. I was just thinking about that last week.

Exactly my thoughts too. The TT looks so moch better and I dont know why. If I bought a normal 996 it would have to lowered, different wheels, and a areo body kit. Thats my kind of car.

Putting my money where my mouth is, I picked this up today.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1384387474.jpg

It's a 2000 C2 with 95k. Metallic black (great color) over gray full leather interior, factory carbon fiber interior, hifi audio with navigation, factory aero kit, 3-spoke wheel, full power seats with memory, window sticker shows it as $96k MSRP new. IMS, RMS, clutch, and the 90k service were done at 90k. The interior is reasonably clean but shows some sun wear on the leather dash and carbon fiber trim that I will need to resolve. It has a decent quality respray from a front end collision years ago, and obviously the front aero kit spoiler was not reinstalled so I need to get one of those. Plan is to get it cleaned up better and use it as a daily driver. Eventually I'll find some different wheels, RoW M030 suspension to replace the tight but tired stock suspension, and mufflers+intake to get better sound.

But they also can haul four adults comfortably plus their luggage and get 30MPG... and cost a fraction of the price... but other than that.

Just saying ;)

Nice. Now we're just waiting on Todd (nostatic).

Scott this isn't directed towards you, but at those who always start off like that:

If you're needing luggage... good fuel mileage... adulthood... any of those things...

Just shut it and have your mazda.

But don't try and claim it is somehow better than a 911. Any 911.

I am guessing in the vicinity of $18k? Dealer or private?

What do you guys think of the hardtop option? Makes sense to me, I don't know how quiet they are. I don't want a noisy daily driver, but taking the top off in the summer would be nice.

Too bad it's a Tip.

AS is this one:

IMS done, all service records, high mileage (too high for me I think):

Not sure if the IMS is done (probably not, but at 105,000 does it matter?)

You bastard.... So is the mini for sale now?

If the IMS update has been done on one of these cars, it will be in the first sentence of the ad. The only one of those cars worth owning, IMO, is the last one. They are all going to get so cheap, basically depreciating like any other 1999 car that was expensive once upon a time, so it makes sense to buy a 2002 or 2003 for a couple bucks more.

I truly believe that high-mileage 996s and Boxsters will get down in the $3-4k price range within another year or two.

It will be soon. I had to order a couple of little things that it still needed.

Ditto. It's too much car for the money. You can't even find a good 944 for that price.

M.D. Holloway 11-14-2013 11:04 AM

very cool! BTW - the green light has been lit to proceed with a 996 of my liking.

So I call upon my bruthas to help source one. While I sure would love a Twin Turbo, I really do not want to go above 30K so I'm thinking thats out of the pic.

Here is what i do want:
996 (no cab no targa), automatic (yes I'm a pussy but with all the stop and go around here I'm not feeling the shift thing so much), an aero package, and as for color I would like to stay away from yellow, red or silver but will consider if the car is spotless...

Also, I will provider a finders fee ;)
