IMHO the 951/944 wins hands down in the looks department.
I have not owned a Boxster but judging from the comments of those who have it may win out in all other departments.

A 951 is a great car, and fast, but they don't have a reputation as a drivers car like the 944S2 did, simply because of the way the power is delivered, and throttle response.
I had a super example, and it was a great car. If you are talking highway or open roads, 951 hands down. If you are talking corner carving, Boxster S. |

I've had both. A 951S and a Boxster. The Boxster had factory 18" wheels and M030 suspension on Michelin Pilot tyres. That car was frighteningly quick through corners. There were times when I had blasted through a corner, looked down at the speedo and thought "holy snappin ducksh$t". The 951 is a powehouse with a bit of work. It is the better looking of the two and will probably hold its value better too.
I put this '86 together for my lad. ![]() I know, I know it's not a clubsport but the lad liked it and it broke up the white. Actually it fooled a couple of blokes at the Porsche club who asked how many of those were made ![]() Go the 951. Great all round cars.

The 951 is an awesome track toy, but for street driving, the 944S2 is much more enjoyable (I've had both).
The S2 has gobs of low-end torque, zero turbo lag, and is much easier to work on than the Turbo. In stock trim, the performance between the turbo and S2 is very similar. The Turbo's big advantage is that with a few relatively easy mods, it can be turned into quite the monster. For daily driver duty, I'd prolly go with a 944 over a Boxster because of the huge cargo area under the rear hatch. Great car for a parts/tool hauler. Both Boxters and 944s are phenomenally fun cars to drive. |

Have you considered a 968? I'd prefer one of those over a Boxster any day.

Repairs aside, I'd take a 951S over a Boxster 8 ways from Sunday. And I really like Boxsters.
Unfortunately, you cannot just dismiss the maintenance issues with the 951. So prob Boxster S with some mods. |

You guys are killing me. Just about a 50/50 split. lol..
On a side note, I just ran across a really good deal on an SC, so now I have to pick from all three of these! But I have to say, I'm leaning towards the Boxster mainly because of the newer age. |

All I can say is to drive both.....
But once the boost comes on in the 951 your mind may be made up.... |

Boost is addictive, but the howl of a flat six just over your shoulder is pretty nice too.
