Wolfe thinks that at least one may be from a guy named Tim Shaw. Only real way to tell is by pulling the cover(s).
EDIT: The Tim Shaw pups have value....

Yeah you guys are probably right... not as early as I was told, but hopefully not too bad of a trade for a pellet rifle...

if it's a legit Shaw, those are worth a fair bit of money. I would need to see very clear picture (use the macro setting) or be able to remove the covers and look inside. White plastic spacers? Rough cast magnet, or polished? Hole,s or no holes on the top of the bobbins near a polepiece?

Well I checked the impedance on the stamped one and it was at 7.2k
The one with the ink stamping checked out at 8.3k Knowing this, which would you choose for the neck / bridge?

But, it's really not about the ohms. It's more about the actual number of turns combined with magnetic stenght. But higher ohms is a good bet.

Thanks Wolfe, I will mark the 8.3k as the bridge.

Bill, based on this: "but most of all I wanted to know what kind of sound that they would probably end up having..."
No way to tell. You'll just have to find out when first plugged in. Who knows what has happened over time. The magnets degrade on there own over time and will change if laid against an amp for a long periods of time or near other strong magnets.

Well, I figure this... I am going to purchase one of those flying V kits here in the next few months and I would guess that these pickups would be a little better than the mass produced humbuckers that come with those ebay kits. So, I am out a pellet gun, but hopefully I gained a little in the pickup dept. lol BTW, you mention the magnets loosing strength over time, I was reading or watching something on YouTube about people re charging their pickups. Have you ever heard of this being done?

I'm not going to answer that, though I know the answer... Wolfe!
I do know that when I purchased my pups from Wolfe, I also picked up another set of magnets (AlNicoII?), at the time, he told me that I could easily swap them out. So, if they can come out... They can be re-magnetized - at least in a conventional sense. I mean, I can take a screw driver, magnetize it, de-magnetize it, magnetize it to different strengths...

A lot of the myth of the PAF came from when the magnets changed over time and from outside sources. Today, we(LP guys) all want that '59 sound. What is the '59 sound? That '59 played by Joe Walsh in the '70's, isn't going to sound exactly the same today on that guitar.
Again, when talking with Wolfe, I told him the sounds I was going for - Jimmy Page, Peter Green... From there, my pups will change over time on their own. Become unique.

Yeah, I always heard that pickups would degrade from one thing or another over the years and someone was saying that they needed to recharge their pickups and I just scratched my head and thought "Oh, geez... something else I gotta do to make my guitar sound good"

I don't think any '59 LP owner would ever do anything to the original pups. They are going to continue to age and change. I think you'd also seriously devalue the guitar.
If anything, check the resistance of each and see how they compare to the numbers on the back.

One of these days I am going to have wolfe build me a set, but I will save those for when I order my Warmoth copy of that flying v I got. I will need to take it in somewhere where I can actually get the wood looked at and positively I'D as well as the neck wood and fretboard wood positively I'D. Then, I need someone that really knows the Gibson necks to ID exactly which Gibson neck was copied onto that thing. I figure the body and neck alone will run close to $700 from them, so I want to make sure everything matches perfectly at that price.

Yeah I agree on the '59 owners, I listed the resistance above, but there is nothing listed on the back to show what the original specs are. I did find a Gibson pickup sight that has different years and resistances listed, but according to that sight, they could coincided with many different years.

Whoops! I thought they were marked with the resistance numbers.

Oh yeah... Ya know that the Hums sound changes slightly when you remove the cover and plug in. I had Wolfe leave the bridge cover off. I have the cover to put on at some point if I want.

I Have never been a fan of the covers lol, I think that they are a little too old school looking for me. I am hoping that I have some zebra humbuckers under these things when I take the covers off tomorrow! That would be the bees knees lol
