I have the little brother and the big brother to the 308 and I must say the 308 is my favorite. so useable, cheap to maintain by comparison, georgous to look at from any angle and the cockpit is perfect...the perfect gauge cluster, beautiful toggle switches and that lovely chrome shift gate! you can still buy very nice serviced and sorted examples for under $50k but not for much longer. |

I'm sure it's a beautiful car, but that is a damn shame. I can't imagine having a car like that and not driving it at every opportunity.

I was interested in a 93 Mondial recently. It looked beautiful, great color combo and a Velaro shifter. No clutch pedal, just shift like always. Anyway, the seller had no records of service and no ownership list. He said the major was done " maybe 3 years ago". Complete turnoff for me. A Ferrari has to have records, to even be considered sellable by anyone with a brain, because of the cost of repairs. Not only f cars, but all high end cars.

![]() Put a '73 RS up for sale with zero service records, you'll sell it no problem! Pretty much every 911 I've sold over the years, the buyer never looked at the service records before buying it. |

My Stradale was under factory warranty. No way in hell I would own such a valuable, complex car not under factory warranty. And, my F-car ownership was very affordable. I purchased the car for 197K, flogged it for over 2 years and 7,000 miles, and sold it for 192K. I'm pretty happy with that experience.

awesome. im happy you had a great experience with your stradale. I had a challenge stradale for about two weeks that I flipped back in 2006. I only drove it once, but it was certainly a cool car.
in no way, do I think my Ferrari is the greatest thing ever. it's a fun car, makes a lot of great noises, and goes faster then I really care to ever drive it. the general consensus in the Ferrari world is that the 360's while might be better cars, tend to lack the soul that the earlier cars have. plus, they came at time when Ferrari most certainly started to increase production. same with 996's versus your 993.

Aren't you like 30 years old? You had a 200K car when you were in your early 20s?

Hey Don, grab yourself a copy of the Jan. 2014 Hemmings Sports & Exotic Cars. There's a good article spelling out and comparing the basic characteristics and driving impressions of a 328 GTS, a 355 F1, and an F430. Well worth your time.
You can see the photos here: Evolution of a Species | Hemmings Motor News If you can't find one at your local bookstore, you can order one here: Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car Back Issues | Hemmings Motor News

Oh now Mclovin, no way anyone can compare the 73 RS to a 20 year old Ferrari. Every RS probably has a list of every owner to new, all the records, and is much easier to work on than a modern Ferrari. They are in Cult status all over the globe. A 93 Mondial with no history should be a big "buyer beware"car, especially one with not 1 record. People might not look at records of what was done where/when, but it helps. And about Stephane,, he's a legend in his own mind.

A friend of mine has a 1980 308. It's slow and the interior looks extremely dated and is made out of lots of cheap plastic parts. Seats are uncomfortable. And it is tiny inside. I can't imagine anyone over 5'10" fitting in it. Even if the maintenance was cheap and simple, there are a lot of cars I would pick over a late model 308.

a driver qv can be had in the price range you state...you are correct. gold or platinum level carb or qv's are north of $50k...that is a fact! good 308's are tougher and tougher to find and they are on the move from a valuation perspective. nice to see them have their day as they are such pretty cars. |

I like the 360 styling. I like it better than the 430 and 458. I'm not a fan of hidden headlights so I prefer it to the 355 but I've seen some clear headlight covers like those on racing F40s that made the 355 look beter.

That's like a 911 with 300,000 miles on it. That 308 would be a very difficult car to sell. Most (not all, but most) 308 buyers would be uninterested at almost anything above parts car prices. IMO it would go (actual sale price) in the 20s for a good condition, unrestored 308 with those miles. |
