Think of it - if you can for a moment - revel in the sheer joy you had in that life - the pain now is a small price - you can never replace it ( the joy that is) - you can always relive it - as all the great guys in the thread know - their dogs now and those you never forget ( for me my Kay, Emily, Mick, Sweety, and Red Samson all build a great bridge to the next. Life is beautiful - Our dogs are that reflection.

surprisingly im very much at peace with this. the last few weeks of trying to determine if his pain out weighed his pleasure has been even harder. he lived an exceptional life, met many people that helped him to become an exceptional dog. he always remembered people he'd sniffed in the past, and being most happy to resniff when crossing paths once again. what im sure of is he's bragging right now where ever good dogs go about every one of his days n all the cool shat he's done over the years to his new pack.
thank each of you for your supports and kind words above, and for the few text ive received from other loving pelican brothers of ours today. I take solace in knowing if he was a set of tires they'd have been bald with cords showing when they came off... a legacy id be proud to live! if im good n lucky enough to make the podium this race season im sure I will hear his barking while I saunter up to collect the spoils of our 1st podium. that last part had me tear up some. dogspeed McQueen! toby

Wow T$, you got me all teared up and then giggling like a schoolgirl. I'm so sorry to see McQueen go. Cosmo is getting pretty gray, but still movin pretty good. Super great to see you already with a new pup. You gotta bring him out to the new ranch and let him chase the turkeys soon. I'll be in touch.
RIP McQ

Sorry that McQueen isn't riding shotgun with you anymore but it looks like the new kid will be a good fit.

I thought my choc lab Sandor wouldn't be riding shot gun with me anymore, the vet had given up on him, but our persistence and his strong will pulled him through!!
