Sharks vs. Kings - a bit of a 'beat-down' - I am a little surprised at that one.
Cheers JB

I like how Ron MacLean acknowledges how Montreal gets all the calls. He pretty much said what everyone is thinking. When Tampa got the roughing call (?) in front of the net, and it was delayed reaction by the officials, MacLean said something a long the lines of "Boy, Tampa must really be thinking this would only happen against Montreal..."
Delay of game on Price. Delayed penalties. Disallowed goal. |

Kings are sucking. Dunno if they can come back. I predict an early exit from the playoffs :--)

But they're decent at drawing penalties, ranking 6th in number of 5-on-4 powerplay opportunities. Admittedly, the waved-off goal may have been a marginal call. Cheers d. GHG

Make Bruins Great Again

What? No comments on Matt Cooke? You know Matt? The guy that ended Mark Savard's career and killed a Cup run for the Bruins. That Matt Cooke. Looks like he's back to his old ways.
So how many games does he get? I'm thinking 4 or 5.

BTW, memorable moment from game 2

Much more. I hope all of the playoffs and ten more next season.

It goes both ways. Tampa needs to look for new defencemen not excuses.

Cooke got seven games. Not enough IMO.
It's his seventh suspension, and he's had a lot of hits that were close to a suspension. Toss him from the league for life.

I hate Patrick Kane.....The guy sure is fun to watch when he shifts it into top gear. Re: Cookie & his suspension - he used to scare Canuck fans with his rambunctiousness as all held their breath waiting for some retaliatory move or hit on one of our 'skill' players. His latest move was inexcusable as he had more than enough time to bail & Tyson Barrie had already advanced the puck.
Cheers JB

Ok, I'm admittedly late to this party, and only a passive Pens fan, but WTF is going on with Fleury? He looked pretty good for 59:35 last night, then played like absolute garbage and cost the Pens the game.

^^^^The "Whaddya-Dun-Fur-Me-Lately" label is going to be hung on him for sure after last night.

It has been a very long time since Fleury was a solid goalie. He played himself out of contention for the Olympic team very early this year.
Last night he a) failed to play a stationary puck he should have played late in the game b) played a bouncing puck (poorly) that he should not have played even later in the game and c) let in a 65 mph wrist shot from a LONG way out on OT. Inexcusable. That was not NHL level goaltending last night.

I hope he keeps it up. I would enjoy seeing the Penguins make an early exit.

But to be clear: No one on that team has played well. Not Crosby, not Malkin, not James Neal and not Kunitz.
It is a fundamental disadvantage to have an ineffective powerplay. Columbus is free to manhandle the Penguins as they see fit because Pittsburgh can't score when Columbus does take a penalty.

I didn't think Neal looked too bad last night. The goal that tied the game was about as bad as the goal Howard gave up in game 3(? or was it 2) when he skated out of the net and passed the puck over the D's stick right off the boards.
I won't say anything about Crosbly as I don't want to jinx myself and have him start playing well. Malkin looked really good in the first, but as a team they sat back on the lead. |

Fleury is not in condition (mentally) to handle play-off hockey. At this elite level, everyone has the skills. What makes a difference is you can play a full 60 minutes (or more). The B's lost the cup last year in game 6 when they only played 59 minutes. They gave it away in just a few seconds. Injuries, mental fatigue, they just ran out of gas.
BSiple: be careful not to criticize Crosby. Anything less than god-like worship will get you pummeled.

Congrats Por_sha, the B's are looking good. For a minute there I thought I saw the old Marchand show up!
