It is anyone who doesn't enjoy shooting 100 rounds of 357 from a 2" alloy J frame . . .

But you don't practice with 357. At the range you shoot 38SPL and only the last few cylinders are 357.

Who's this "you"? Because it surely isn't me.

I've carried for over 30 years. During that time I've tried many different spoons. I currently use a Glock model 42 (.380) because it's light and has proven reliable for me. The manufacture will be releasing a single stack 9mm in Feb 2015 and I will most likely switch to that because I like that round. Something to consider when choosing a concealed weapon is how comfortable will you be while carrying it. If it's too heavy or big you may start leaving it at home or in your car. That is what usually happens to me when my choice at the time is something bigger than I can conceal comfortably. JMO.
P.S. If you choose a semi auto please train for failure to fire, failure to feed, failure to extract, double feeds, stove pipes and failure to eject situations. Also learn what a squib load is and how you should handle it. Thankfully they are rare. btw, with a snubby revolver except for a squib load, you really only have to train for a failure to fire and the solution is to pull the trigger again Stay Safe !

I like my Kahr Arms PM series? I have the PM9 and PM40 with night sights. The frame is too light for the 40 and turns in your hand, but the 9mm has been a flawless sub-compact.

I carry my LCP 99% of the time. Mostly because I need a gun that I can pocket carry. With a pocket holster it just looks like you are carrying your wallet in your front pants pocket.

I LOVE the looks of the Sig 938 and might get one just because it looks so cool. But fully loaded it weighs 5.4 ounces more than the LCP (12 oz versus 17.4 oz). Doesn't seem like much until you carry it around all day in your front pocket and find yourself constantly having to hitch up your pants.

Why are most of the recommendations in this thread for polymer pistols when the OP said his buddy is not fond of polymer?

Perhaps his buddy will decide polymer isn't so bad after carrying a lump of steel around for a while?

I pocket carry my P938 and it doesn't bother me when I'm wearing jeans. I wear athletic shorts most of the summer, which makes any CCH difficult. I need to figure out a solution for that, maybe a good IWB holster and a dedicated belt under my shirt/shorts?

Have one - PM9, and it is suprisingly accurate for such a small weapon. Fits in pocket without notice too.

IMHO, the airweight S&W .38 is the ideal carry piece. Shrouded hammer, 5 shots and it fits in the palm of your hand. Thing about a wheel gun is it can't misfeed. It can sit for a year, you pick it up and it goes bang.

That is exactly what my Hollywood armorer friend told me. No springs under tension. 38/357 about $750, ouch.

$750 seems a bit...no, very...high.

Airweight Smith is definitely under $500. People just seem to not like wheel guns for some reason.

A couple of questions. First, isn't a pocket a dangerous place to carry a pistol? If I were to carry I would prefer a holster at the small of my back tucked inside my waistband. I have read and heard that a disproportionate number of cops end up shooting themselves when they take illegal guns from suspects because they don't have a safe place to put them while they complete the arrest, so they just stuff them in their pockets or waistbands. And that the most common injuries are to the, um, most vulnerable part of the anatomy in the area of a pocket or waistband.

Second, is there anything to the claim that Walther PPKs are prone to jamming? I remember the story about how the British Secret Service used that as their primary handgun until one jammed on the guy who was supposed to protect the Queen and I think it was Princess Margaret, back in the 1970s when some guy in the park kidnapped them. After that incident they were removed from service and Bond had to change handguns in the next several movies.

There are pocket holsters designed specifically to make pocket carry as safe as belt-carry. When you pocket-carry a spoon you have to make changes to your normal daily routine. The ONLY thing that should go in your carry pocket is the holstered spoon.

As for Wlather PPKs, like every (most?) pistol they have their fans, but reliability is something of a mixed bag. Certainly not Glock-like.

90% of holster accidents happen when the clown is holstering the gun with their finger inside the trigger guard.

I have a desantis nemesis? Pocket holster. Has rubber on the out side so when you draw the pistol the holster stays in the pocket. It came with a flat sheet to help conceal but that tends to make it bulky and print. Just the little holster and pistol doesn't print at all in my jeans.
