CZ 75 compact is worth checking out. I have one it's better than my 1911 and conceals easier.

I like my Sig 229 .40 fits in my hand / Double action, confident with a round chambered. Also like a good old fashion S&W revolver too.

For non-1911 metal guns, Sigs and CZs are the way to go.

Sounds like a 686+ snubbie would be just the ticket - 7 rounds of .357 mag.

It seems anything much heavier than an LCP gives me a backache after a few hours.
Although for 30 years I have carried every day something that's even smaller.

Absolutely. Nice and simple, goes bang every time. I could never conceal my 6" 686+, but it's the funnest shooter that I own.

Ruger's LCR does the same thing (albeit 2 fewer times) in a much more comfortable piece to carry, and with a magnificent double action trigger.

There's one more difference. Shooting full-house loads in a lightweight J-frame-size revolver flat-out sucks no matter how you sugarcoat it.

Shooting full-house loads in a steel L-frame is pure fun.

A 686+ can also be cut for moon clips (if it isn't already), which adds another level of convenience.

Regular .38 Special in this S&W model 36 (J frame). Small and reliable.

But you don't practice with 357. At the range you shoot 38SPL and only the last few cylinders are 357.

I hear ya, Geezer. Similar styling to a Walther PPK, for a fraction of the cost. All metal frame, comfortable to shoot (unlike some of the small pistols), and has modern features (like a de-cocker, hammer block safety, and a magazine safety).

I looked at the LCR/LCP before I bought my P938. Both nice and compact, but I preferred the solid feel and 1911 style operation of the Sig. Of course they were about half the price of the Sig, so that's an advantage.....

I also looked at a PPK and found it to be a very cheap feeling piece. Very loose and flimsy feeling. I read online that the modern ones don't tend to have the same level of quality, I wasn't impressed.

The controls are second nature.
It is virtually the same size as a Colt Defender in .45ACP. Why use 9mm when you can use .45ACP?

If you can do the same groupings with 6-20 .357 after banging away with cheap .38 wadcutters.....you are proficient. If not try again.

A .357 is a close range weapon......50-100 feet. Center mass until the threat is finished. At least that's what your tell the cops.

When you turn them over, you know why you use smj ammo.

Hey hey hey, some of us like cheap .38 wadcutters

The hole certainly isn't going to be smaller than .38 of an inch and they self destruct quite well

Id guess you haven't seen both, especially at the same time. The 938 is smaller in every way, and a half-pound lighter. I carry a 938 in my pocket, no way I'd be able to do that with a Defender/New Agent/EMP/etc.

There is also Kahr's higher end all metal guns, the T-series, K-series, and MK-series. Those are very nice, albeit hard to find, and most people don't know about them. So add those to my non-1911, non-polymer carry gun list along with Sigs and CZs.
