Wireless TV?

Is there a set where the TV can be wireless with a transmitter in another spot of the room?

We can get power. Just need to get the cable to a wireless system.

We need a set up like that for my son's room at school.

You can pick up aftermarket streaming devices but they are a) not cheap and b) a bit spotty.

Look at the Silicon Dust offering, HDHomeRun DUAL - Generation 4 - US - Watch Streaming TV Anywhere

You'll still need a PC at the TV, unless it's a Smart TV that supports DLNA streaming.

A PlayStation 3 will work.

You could also go Raspberry PI, cheap and comes with OpenElec as a an OS option but the PI is painfully slow on channel switching, menu navigation etc....

30 feet of coax and some floor tape? Using wireless to span a dorm room seems a bit much.

True, but it would cross two door ways and we were trying to avoid that. I didn't know if there was a cheap wireless out there.

Since it's a dorm room, I might try those stick holders with zip tie and just go around the ceiling.

Can you just plug in an Apple TV box and connect to a wifi connection? That's all I do. Only cords involved are the power for the screen, power for the box and HDMI from box to screen (can be virtually any length you want - 3' or 50' away).

Haven't used this, but other Rocketfish stuff I have has been great:
Rocketfish™ - Whole Home HD Extender - Black

Transmits through power lines, so may be an issue in a dorm.

I have a Brite-view HDelight gizmo that I have to beam my STB to a tvin my kitchen..

Yea this was a more expensive way to get the tv into the kitchen. However my house is 110 years, old stucco exterior, plaster interior. I don't like cutting unnecessary holes in the plaster if I can avoid it, and pulling cable though the walls is a pain. So I got the brite view unit.

The receiver is about 25 feet from the transmitter, It very rarely drops the signal..

So far it has worked well for my for a few years..

$200.00 at Best Buy. Provides a wireless connection between the cable box and the TV.
