Hitler Stamps... Value?

A friend found these in her collection this afternoon. She describes them as mint but they look unused to me.

I know nothing about stamps so what are these worth? (5 total)

Now you have stumbled upon how Hitler became a multi Millionaire...He licensed his image to the German government for both stamps and coins. In other words he received a royalty for every stamped printed and coin minted with his image upon it and that means nearly all of them.

It's history and should be remembered, despite the atrocities. I just don't think Hitler items command a high price (maybe a select few). They shouldn't.

Agreed - the last thing we want to do is write him or the memory of the third reich out of history. "Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it". We already have at least one nutcase regime in the ME who denies the holocaust, so why destroy more tangible evidence of it and the things that led to it? Definite historical value. History doesn't mean "pretty and PC", it means what factually happened.

The stamps are worth up to 0,40 Euro. I had a lot of them when collecting stamps as a kid.
Maybe the one with "Grossdeutsches Reich" on it is worth more - never seen that one.

Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler (Briefmarkenserie)
Thanks for your input. I'll pass on the info about the rarer one.

Hilter made most of his money from royalties from Mein Kampf which was a required read for all German citizens

"Stick a pin in Hitler's Axis"

I'll bet that was the pinnacle of bawdiness back in the '40's.

The value of any collectable is based largely on 2 things: condition and rarity.

Unfortunately, lots of the Nazi-era stamps & coins were produced and brought back by GI's, so they are not all that rare. If they were mint uncirculated ones, they may be worth a bit more, but then one would have to wonder whether they were real of counterfeit.

Don't feel bad - Lots of us are in the same position. I have some German coins of that period I used to think might be valuable...

I don't feel bad at all.

I couldn't care less for any memorabilia associated with this individual but I do appreciate the input.
This thread was a for a friend who happened to find them in her collection.

Those royalties now go to the state of Bavaria. IIRC, he was in Landsberg Prison in Bavaria when he dictated the book to Rudolf Hess.

It's not worth anything either in the perforated form as in the pic. If it did not have the perforations, it could have been worth around $150US.

I would love to find a KdF-wagen stamp book. "Fünf Mark die Woche musst du sparen, willst du im eigenen Wagen fahren"
