Marcy Borders - "Dust Lady". Escaped the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11.
She died from cancer at age 42. Rest in peace.

Hard to believe it’s been 25 years, I remember it like yesterday and always will.

Still getting choked up on this day, unwilling to forget.

We are sitting here watching old movies as opposed to live tv. Still can't watch anything regarding that day. I can only express how sorry I am for those lost and those who have lost.

I was at my daughter's house yesterday. Her next door neighbor lost their son who was a firefighter. She told me how she has yet to go to a memorial service other than a local one. The neighborhood where my daughter lives in has a huge amount firefighter and police families there. There is a service today, very sad.

To my American friends: Regardless of the political crap these days, if things go down like they did 25 years ago, know you have a safe place to duck and cover. That's what good neighbors do.

Amazing show. If I had known in advance, I would have went to see.

I have never mentioned this here, but 2 months later on Nov 12 Flight 587 lands on my childhood friend's house in Belle Harbor. Frank was home from work from his second job at night (he was a phys ed teacher, Nov 12 was Veterans Day) his wife whom was our neighbor was out with the kids shopping. My wife heard the explosion thinking it was another attack. Our son was downtown Manhattan that day so panic struck.

The fall is a terrible time for me. Nevermind mind both sets of our parents died Thanksgiving week.

Sorry to vent.

That's horrible Mike! You have my condolences.

I watched this last weekend about Gander Newfoundland who provided safety and hospitality to those affected on 9/11. Neighbors helping neighbors, it's what we do as humans regardless of politics....

No reason to apologize. Vent away; this is a board of misfits, and misfits are thrown together for a reason; today that reason is to give you and others a place to let it out and find a center.

In the mayhem of the day that saw terror raining from the skies, American airspace was shut down, and a tiny town in a remote part of north eastern Canada suddenly found itself the destination for commercial passenger aircraft ordered to land immediately. Seven thousand plane people with nowhere else to go were about to discover the delights of the wonderful community of Gander.

“The day the World Came to Town” is a good book.

It seems that the CIA just declassified several reports related to 9/11; here is a link to the compilation:

I was on the other side of the US when the planes struck but had friends and family nearby and deployed that day. It's a day (and subsequent times) that I'll never forget; I wish more people understood the history of how we got there. That event did bring out the best in our country for a long time. I wish we could get back to that togetherness we all shared and built upon for a while...
