G'day!
|
Quick story about kennels.
When I got my tub back in '05 - Winkipop was only about 6 months old and the East Coast Holiday was going to be in Virginia (I think) and as a proud new tub owner I wanted to attend. I got a kennel lined up for Winkipop.....got everything ready for the trip.....dropped her off......went back home.......and then drove back - picked her back up and cancelled the trip. I couldn't do it. I may miss out on a trip here or there but I love being with my girls so much I don't care.

Doggie issues can run you ragged. Thank God! I've discovered Poodles. I like almost every breed -'cept droolers - but I won't have another breed. It'll be a Poodle from here on out. Clean, smart, affectionate, etc. I can watch my Miniature Poodle think. I'd love to have a Standard Poodle one day. . Good luck, Chris. 'Love your pup's expression, BTW. ![]() . "Stink eye", Baz...good one.

Man, I could NEVER put one of my dogs in a kennel.
Good for you, Baz!

Grew up on a small farm.....Cows, pigs, goat, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs.......
We could never travel anywhere....Even a 50 mile trip to see the cousins was always: Hurry home and milk the cows... Would really luv to have a dog now, but am gone on trips at least 20% of the days per year.....I'll enjoy the neighbor dogs. Cats? All I can say is the price of ammo has really gone up. Don't even get me going on horses........I live in horse country.....Many people, including my brother, have to buy 10 acres, 3/4 ton p/u, huge trailer, fencing and then 8-10K a year on hay, feed, and vet bills. Can't have one horse, always 2 or 3........ I know many single gals with horses that can't figure out why no sane guy wants to buy into their obsession?

Now in 993 land ...

98% of my vacations are road trips, camping and motels. At least half of them are hunting trips. My dogs are coming and put to work. Or at least companions.
I can't this xmas but if you are ever in a bind short notice, let me know, I can take your dog. The cat not so much, unless you want it back stretched. ![]() G |

We are lucky to have a really good kennel nearby, and we pay extra for walks and playtime. When our lab realizes where she is, she drags us IN to the kennel, so it must not be a bad experience. It can definitely add up though.

I had that same problem this summer with our new lab. We just planned around taking her and it turned out great. We actually bonded with her more and she has since calmed down with the 24/7 attention while on the trip. I now see why Labs are such great service dogs.
