No thanks. I prefer mine mounted as high as possible. It is, after all, a line of sight device. Addutionally it's in my line of vision. I mount mine at the top of the windshield to the right of the rear view. Best place for it IMO.

In my past few vehicles, top of the windshield, just left of the mirror was my preferred location, but in the boxster, I like where the mount will put it.

Realized last night as I was about to order the gbracket that it ONLY works on 997 with the auto-dimming mirror. Since I have a 987 with an auto-dimming mirror, I'm out. I went ahead and got the blendmount and got a wiring kit to tap into the homelink power, so I don't even have to hardwire and run around the windshild.

Generally true, but in the 997 and probably the Boxster/Cayman too, the sloping roofline means line-of-sight (rearward) is actually impeded by mounting it higher.

OK, got and installed my "blendmount" tonight. Much better than the suction cup method. It's not quite flush with the bottom of the mirror. I could probably get a finger in between which is good in case I ever want to take the detector down. And since it's under the mirror, it is easier to hit the button for mute or change the volume. I'll know for sure tomorrow when I drive the car. I also got a "wiretap" sold by the same folks which is a small wire with a built in fuse that I can use to tap into the homelink to power the detector so I don't have to run a cable down to the fuse box. I can't wait to wire it up. For now, I just have a wire hanging down.

If you are mounting it high enough to be behind the tint band at the top of the windshield you may be reducing the detectors range. -J
