They name this **** now?

They should start with Z so we don't get confused with the Hurricanes.

Between Sandy, Irene, and these friggin blizzards..... I have had it...

That and having paid obscene property taxes for all these years....

The Weather Channel started naming storms on their own a year or two ago.

This "Juno" name is thus just media hype and not an official name acknowledged by NOAA or anyone else.

That being said, the storm has moved a bit eastward and NJ is getting less while NY-Long Island, CT, RI & MA are getting more. I work in NE NJ and probably won't have to go in to the office tomorrow. Things being what they are, I'll probably be expected to work from home.

65 degrees here in LA, but we're going to get an inch or two of rain, maybe. I moved from Boston to LA after the 1978 blizzard. I'd spent 1978 Xmas in LA at 65 degrees and came back to UMASS, Amherst and spent a few days digging out my VW bug that had been repeatedly plowed in, with fuel lines broken from water freezing in the lines. I said eff this. My B-day is tomorrow (61) as a kid in Boston my memories of my B-Day were that it was snowing and brutally cold.

An inch or two, seriously? we'd all get washed away.
Last I heard for the OC was they're expecting 2/10ths over 36 hours, and they're sadbagging for that.
Hopefully the lawn furniture will survive it upright.

I was just in Manhattan a week ago, staying in Hells Kitchen. Walking down the street I remarked on what a mess it must be when it snows a lot. The streets, especially 10th ave are so torn up I don't see how they would get a plow over it. Lots of signs warning plow drivers to lift their blade. The streets were line with piles and piles of garbage bags I don't know where they would move the snow to. I'm glad I came home last Wednesday, I can't imagine what it will like.

There're predicting 15 - 24 inches by me ( eastern Passaic county, North Jersey). We are hunkered down and will ride this one out from inside...

Have checked the radar a few times using a great app called Radar Now! It appears that unless this storm gets some help... it is going to skim NY/NJ.... Boston appears to be in the bullseye...

Not sure what will become of fronts to the south and west

Snowmaggeddon, deadly, historic!
Give me a break.
Lived in the NE my entire life.
It's winter, it snows.

Better get to the store and buy TP, milk and bread.
I don't know anyone who has ever been snow bound for 3-4 days. Never.
Within a day and a half, at most, roads are normal.

Sensationalize everything.
Grow up, have the boys descend, and go out and drive.
Snow storms are the best time to go out and hone your car handling skills.
To the inevitable poster that will comment about irresponsible driver and immaturity, blah, blah, blah. We go to the mall parking lot or similar open spaces.

Just heard, record setting,, catastrophic .
Christ, you friggin' kidding me?

Must be low blood sugar, dinner time!

Stay safe.

2/10th of an inch? Not as bad as I thought. Must be the local news hype. StormWatch 2015. I should turn my sprinklers off. I already cleared the overflow drain on the pool, so I'm cool.

Eh.....8 to a foot predicted up here.
Our daughter goes to college just north of Boston on the coast. They may take it pretty hard there.

They used to
Quote:
They shove it into the river.
until a few years ago when there was some litigation

They now have many "snow melters" which discharge the melted snow in to the NYC sewer system so the water will be treated....

Of course... there are many areas of NYC where they still plow it right into the water
