It's not about getting old as such... I think it's more about the dynamics of the relationship.

As a relationship ages there can be feelings of resentment that have built up over a very long time.
IMO this is one of the main reasons women go off sex.

Both 51 today; once or twice a week. Sometimes more. Married 27 years.

Some background for clarity:
While I always wanted more, it took a lot of work just to get it once a week. Having three kids, and both being very devoted to them, that did not make it any easier. But one way or another we averaged 3 to 4 times per month.

Things had certainly ebbed, but last year, upon the suggestion of a girlfriend she asked her ob/gyn about a thing called a hormone pellet. It is made from plants and is inserted 3-4 times a year just below the surface of the skin on her thigh. She did a few blood tests that consistently showed her hormone levels at the very bottom of the range.

It takes a week or two to kick in, but when it does, watch out. Like never before.

It is... amazing!

And it's quite possible that she's needed this for a long time.

Ha, each situation is different. My sex life has been tremendously better since my mid 40's. I'm also in better shape at 51 than I was at 31. It's all about who you are with. My first wife and I married too young. She later admitted she did it for security, and her sex drive was low, especially toward me over time. We made great roomies and parents together. Once the kids were old enough, we split, remained friends and a family that still supports each other, but from 325 miles away. Kids are grown now, probably your age!

Since then, I've been in some great relationships, some shorter, some longer, finally found the one I'm sure I'll grow old with and that part of my life has been awesome. If my current GF had a medical issue come up tomorrow that prevented sex, I'd still be there holding and supporting her for the next 40 years.
