Do some of the older riders (Rossi), who have been around the sport longer, have an advantage in knowing what to expect when things change? Or do younger riders (Marc) adapt quicker? I didn't know if maybe with age/experience brings the ability to help the engineers dial the bike in for said changes.

For sure, experience helps. The rider is just one small part of the operation, though. So many guys working behind the scenes... Nonetheless, a guy like Rossi will remember the days when you had to manage the life of a tire over a race distance, he'll remember what a Michelin feels like, etc. Not that they all won't figure it out, but his experience counts for something.
If you read the comments from the riders after day one of the test, you'll note that even the big boys like Honda get sideways. Pedrosa mentioned that because the new electronics were so far off where they needed to be, he was really unable to learn much about the 2016 engine, which they were trying at the same time. They always learn something, just not as much as they should. JR |

Ha, well then let Lorenzo help Marc sell his stuff. This may keep us entertained through some of the winter I should think.

Nobody seems to buy 93 or 99 stuff, so this latest move seems to be taking place in a vacuum.

Never bad form to honor those who have passed while in pursuit of the sport we love.

As with Rossi testing a Ferrari F1 car a while back and "dabbling" with rally cars, Alonso gives two wheels a go:

The man "heeds" his bikes.
Always good to see him pat the front cowling number and the tank when he wins...even when he doesn't win.

So, I'll be in Italy on the perfect week, 20th of May through the 28th. My friends and I are debating between Mugello and Monaco. I'm the only petrolhead. We're leaning heavily on Mugello at this point.
Has anyone here ever been? Do you have any advice as to how to get there, and where to stay? We're thinking of taking the train up from Rome, staying a night in Florence, and attending the GP on Sun, then taking off back to Rome Sunday night. |

Lucky you!
Mugello and Phillip Island always look like they are set in paradise.
