Where did they all go to? I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Don't know. They went missing like the Z's and Supra's from that era.

Limited production didn't help, they only made the widebodies for 3 years.

High insurance rates killed a lot of iconic model lines back then.

I was driving through a new area of Dallas a bit back and passed a shop that had a few sitting in the yard.

Took a lot of self restraint not to pull in and take one home.

Reminds me a lot of the 944.

Great color

It's funny how a 944 can look so ratty or cleaned up, especially the s2/turbo, can look great.

Surprisingly many of them are still around, they just lead a charmed life now and tucked away in enthusiasts garage. Go to a show like Japanese Nostalgic Classic in Long Beach and they will be out in full force.

This board is just bad for me. I haven't read this forum in awhile and today you guys hit a nerve. I hung out with my buddy with one of these back in the 80s. I admired the car back then. And based on the feedbacks here looks like a good car for me to tinker. He still has it in the garage so I contacted him and agreed to sell me the car. So I will check it out this weekend. Just bad!!!! Wish me luck.

Good info and some useful links at the end although some may be dead by now.

dont forget the conquest sort of grew up into the gen 1 eclipse/talon/laser before the big boy diamond stars came out (3000 gt / stealth).

Personally I dont think I would have much interest in the lower NA stealth or 3000 gt.

Those cars are defined by turbo & AWD inho

When I was young I looked at one at the local shop. It was black cherry (Durban Maroon?) colored and loved it. $2500 every six months for insurance for an 18 year old prevented that sale. The Shelby Charger of the era was just as bad for insurance.

Back from the days when Mitsubishi made desirable cars. I don't think they made anything good (or RWD) after the '99 3000GT.

The Starion is one of the cars that will go in my Magic 10 Car Garage of Dreams.

You know, like The List, the 10 cars that you would put in your special rich guy garage if you had the chance, and your wife couldn't say anything about it?

My 10 year old son is a huge top gear fan. Just last night we happened to watch an episode from ~2005 where the boys had a challenge to each buy a 1500 car and eventually enter them in a 4 hour endurance race. Clarkson got a Starion whereas May got an XJS and Hammond got a B!W 635. In the end they all agreed that the Starion was the best car despite Hammond winning the endurance race.
