talk about fun!???
Going back a couple pages of posts but at least one guy out there thinks a 928 can be tracked. Sure put some work into it. Noticed it's on Winding Road for more $. PRICE DROP !! Porsche 928 4 cam 5 SPEED V8 Street Legal Race Car Kind of a creative way to deal with a car the DEA tore apart & then gave up.

This was a great thread ...why has it been hijacked by random 928 stuff?
Show us the money Shaun!

With the Cerakote oven done I finally finished the engine building room. Not enough hours in the day. Should start to rebuild the motor next Sunday.

Looks like carpet on the floor. No likey for engine building room.
I have a very similar metal rack in my garage, coincidence, or chariots of the gods

With Mother's Day, going to start the motor build next weekend. Have decided the whole car should be as nice as the motor. Studs got black phosphate while bearing caps were grey phosphated. New bearings of course.

Had to wait for Porsche to get a new batch of girdle nuts made to get 5 more to make a set of 10, and then find time to start the build in earnest. Today I finally got a chance to Plastigage the main and thrust bearings, they dimensioned out perfectly so I can start to build the short block, will 'gage the rod bearings as well.
New girdle nuts, threads are plastic lined Factory bearings. Top are marked with blue, bottom red, with unique part numbers. .051mm

Two whole months have gone by and this the first time I've been able to get back onto the motor. But with the block assembled and the crank spinning like butter, smooth as silk, I feel like I've got some wind in my sails to move forward with a little more urgency.
Girdle fit on easily with no drama. Torque stages were fun, definitely a good idea to have a friend who is the brain pointing to each nut along the way and you are just a robot getting them all done. New plastic threaded nuts were used, reused the washers.

Looking good Shaun! I wish I had the time to undertake a full nuts and bolts type project like that.

Thanks Sandy and Matt. Clearly I don't have the time either as this is the first work I've done in 2 months. While I will be painting the car, I have definitely ruled out a color change to BMW's Midnight Blue Metallic or Tanzanite Blue Metallic. Will most likely put on aero mirrors and paint the wing though.

What was the original color? Considering how these things are appreciating, going back to OEM might be wise. But definitely go with aero mirrors, love how they update the look over the flag mirrors.
