Phil, when I was trying to figure out if you were real or not, I took a quick tour of your house. Nice place, but what's the deal with the shower in the upstairs bathroom? Maybe it was just an odd camera angle, but it looks like you'd have to be 4' tall or less to fit in that thing.

Dude.

If there was a black belt for doxing, I'd have it. My wife says I should be private investigator. But I only use my powers for good.

A friend of mine has a blog and a guy was causing a lot of grief in the comment section. With only a screen name, I was able to track down many details about him. He crossed a few lines so I asked him (by first name) in the comment section if his wife (by first name) knew what a jerk he was and how she'd feel if she received printed copies of his post at her place of business (by profession). Shut him up really quickly and my friend was extremely grateful to have the guy off her board.

Lee - you bring interwebs stalking to a whole new level!

In my search for a new home this year, I spent many a nite searching the webs for past owner info.

Case in point - the home we bought was an estate sale. I found out that the deceased owner, an electrical engineer, was part of the development team for the original Space Invaders and Pong arcade machines. He was also involved with the development of the trident sub, harpoon missle and even the space shuttle.

When I build out my man cave, Space Invaders and Pong will definitely be part of the room, as a tribute to the orginial owner...

Ps - Lee - does that give you enough info to find me??

Of course I can find you! Most Pelican's are easy to track down.

Didn't know you were fluent in Hungarian. ;)

There are a TON of Bentleys around here for some reason. This little blue number caught my eye the other day: Fort Myers | 2012 Bentley Continental GT GTC Convertible

I really like your Healey btw

Guys - this is a cool car forum - not a socioeconomic forum - I'm in the hobby - I'm buy cars instead of stocks and bonds - they're more fun - that's it - and I'm excited about my latest addition - you guys should re read your replies and ask yourselves who has issues - I'm surprised at how fun the bentley is - I've got lots of fast cool cars and I didn't think a bentley would light me up - that's it - I'll post on forums where me having lots of cars interests others and doesn't hurt their little feelings - I shoulda posted in the GT3 section or something - moderator where are you ?

I know you guys are gonna kill me on this one ... But I don't love the GTCs as much ... Bentley Convertibles are to showy for even a bragger like me ;)

Drbraunsr 09-10-2015 07:01 PM

Had an old TR4 but a TR4a ? Brings back memories of cool summer night on PCH. The 'a' model is a 6 cylinder isn't it ?
A most entertaining thread...

I hate ALMOST everyone here too......you know who you are.

Which part didn't you understand?
The "bu", or the "bye"?
Bu-bye.

I'm just not a convertible fan at all. Had a Karmann Ghia convertible in high school. It was cool because it was unique but I've just never been a fan of top-down driving. I've had several 911 Targas and that is about as close to a convertible as I'd ever want, but I still prefer the coupe. Sure wish Porsche had come out with the Cayman when they first introduced the Boxster. We'd be looking at a market filled with $8K-$10K Caymans, which would be a wonderful thing.

philly1963 09-10-2015 10:31 PM

On the TR4a ... It had IRS and a Woden dash ... Mostly ... Although there are some live axle TR4as all TR4 cars were live (solid) axle cars... They all have the same 2.2 liter big 4 cylinder engine up to 1968 where they retained the Micholetti body design but with a 2.5 liter inline 6 cylinder engine they became a TR250 for one year then in 69 the same engine continued in the TR6 through 1976 ... The engine and transmission in the tr4a actually is the same as the earlier TR3 and TR3a dating back to the 50s...

philly1963 09-10-2015 10:42 PM

On Lee's comments on convertibles ... I like targas too ... Not as beautiful as a 911 coupe as they lose that great clean descending line from the A pillar to their ass ... But open air driving without as much turbulence ... When I started in the car hobby 15 years ago I remember not understanding why anybody would want any car that wasn't a convertible ... Now I really lean away from them ... I feel embarrassed in an open air car often as your just hanging out there with no privacy ... Again I think I'm just getting old ... The market probably hasn't changed ...or has it ... I don't hear that old saying ... "" when the top goes down the prIce goes up ". As much as I used to ... What you you guys think??

wildthing 09-11-2015 05:28 AM

Don't like convertibles either. Wouldn't mind having one, but wouldn't go out and buy one either. Maybe if I win one in a raffle. :)
