This fourth of July weekend , a 4 dayer, we will entertain my oldest son and wife, daughter and husband and grandson and granddaughter and youngest son. Whew, we will have a boatload.

Spent yesterday on a cobia/red drum charter.
caught about 10 cobia from 40-57" and about the same number of red drum that were around 48"+. absolutely amazing day fishing. all on lighter duty tackle. ![]() ![]() my boat doesn't have a tower but i'm pretty sure we'll be trailering to this area before long to try it on our own.

Nice looking fish! Curious where you were, I'm supposed to go out of kent island this weekend. My first time on a charter, looks a little different than catching perch off the pier.

right above the CBBT. they have an awesome fishery in that area. Every fish caught was spotted at the surface. The drum were in big schools and the cobia were spread out more but still right at the surface. Neat way to fish. we will be back with our own boats to try the flounder fishing when it heats up later.
my fishing group all have boats but it's still fun to charter sometimes to both learn about the techniques and to just relax and enjoy the fishing with no cleanup afterwards.

I like the peacefulness of fishing.

A buddy went out further north (somewhere in Md) the day before and murdered the perch.
if you haven't found it yet check out the Chesapeake forum on tidalfish.com. Lots of good info there. fair warning avoid the conservation forum. loaded with holier than thou my way or the highway types.

Ooh she is ready for the water and looking so good.
Thanks for sharing the details of your worthy boat. And for your commitment to keeping her sound and functioning. As a former wooden boat owner I really appreciate all that it takes, and also the sweet reward of enjoying the efforts of the master craftsmen and woman that create these beauties. Hope you get to enjoy some time out playing on the water this summer. Also realize your efforts bring pleasure to folks you never even meet. It's that nice to see these timeless classics being cared for and kept alive. Cheers Richard Last edited by tevake; 06-23-2016 at 04:53 AM.. |
