Yes, if the chute does not work after dropping out of the plane

Other then that I sometimes think about death before I am ready after all the close calls I have had while driving to/from work or if I piss off the "Boss" at home ;-)

40, 2 young kids and 1 more coming. I never used to worry about dying, but after kids I do all the time.

Im not afraid of pain or nothingness, but I want to teach my son how to drive a car, how to have respect for women, how to fix things. I want to teach my daughter to be strong and confident. I want to see if they lean towards arts or sciences. I want to help them with homework, maybe I can actually learn grammar this time. Etc ad infinum.

I am terrified of missing that stuff. In the words of Shannon Hoon "I know we cant all live hear forever so I want to write my words on the face of today"

Sorry for your loss Fred.
More than my death, I fear the death of my children before my time comes.
At 53, I'm starting to look at things that will last me to my final day.
People ask me why I am rebuilding my engine before it pooches and my reply is I might not be able to enjoy the rebuild if I wait 10 years.
I will embrace death in the end.

Before you die, how about working on redundancy in speech?

Speed is a rate so it is:

...skids through most of the intersection at high speed....

Sorry, but the "high rate of speed" phrase is a pet peeve.

A few of my icons died this year (Lemmy, Bowie, etc) and at 50 it got me to thinking about how long we have left as I just turned 50. Someone here mentioned about quitting riding motorcycles but I went the opposite way and have started to ride them even more now as I love being on my bike and do not want to be on my deathbed wishing there were things I regretted not doing. I also walked away from a dead marriage a couple of years earlier and now have a very nice young lady in my life. Its a short ride we have so enjoy it the best you can.

The engineer in me thinks that rate of speed should indicate the time derivative of the speed scalar number or the magnitude of acceleration vector for a straight line.

I say life is too short to care much about other's grammar or spelling

My exact thoughts. Death itself is not scary to me, my daughter growing up without a father is.

Lemmy one of my very favorites too. Sad

It was me about the motorcycles. I miss it but gave it 10 good years with a lot of very close calls. I'm glad I did it though. Be careful. The driving while texting situation is really bad.

I am no stick man. I think of that husky (ok, fat) umpire doing a face plant 20 or so years ago on the field.

I don't get too excited about spelling...grammar, on the other hand, is more important.

Sorry for you loss Fred..
I cannot even fathom your loss & pain..

In another life & places..
I encountered many folks dying or close to it..
thou mangled and damaged..
upon self assessment when able..
most were concerned about other's...
tell them..I love..I'm sorry..and such..

Having had more than my share of 2nd,3rd,4th...chances..
I'm no different..
I would worry about my Lady and her care..

A wise old man told me that as he approached the twilight of his life, he realized you don't regret things you did, you regret things you did not do.

Dad and my brothers go out to lunch once a week, whether I have time to or not. That is one of many things that I do with what that old man told me in mind.

I do not fear death. I don't know what will happen, but I hope I get to see my dog again. She was a real sweetheart.

There it is and thank you, Rikao, for your perspective. There is no one here I respect more than you.

Peace to you.

I'm not afraid of dying...I'm more concerned about not living.

Unfortunately, in my line of work I deal with death multiple times every day. I see people of all ages, die from sickness, ( expected and unexpected..), tragically in accidents, at the hand of others, and all too often, at their own hand. At times I just become numb to it. Other times it is a kick in the ass wake-up call, that it can be me at anytime.

All I can say is live your life minute to minute, not day to day, or year to year. It can be over that quick.

Do I fear death itself, no not really . Maybe the method of death I might fear, but not the end result for me at least. I do fear what I might do to my loved ones , as I see how it effects families.

Sorry I can't embed this. I used to hum this to my son. It's my wish for him.
