One last thing, the most important thing in terms being, "elderly": Humor, lose it and you are elderly, babble and your are elderly.

I have had the occasion to in minor ways help care for three men in their 90': my grandfather, my wife's grandfather, and my wife's step father.

Interesting mix of men.

My wife's grandfather, Jack (we named our son after him) was my favorite, with the other two close seconds. Humor was the tie breaker. Funny wins.

I would pick Jack up from Cedar Lane, the old folks home he was in, every Sunday for early dinner at our place. Jack was a bourbon drinker and at his age, 94, I felt certain that I wasn't contributing to his early demise by getting him a fifth a week of Maker's Mark.

Depending on the time of year, after dinner Jack and I would take a circuitous route back to Cedar Lane and laugh all the way on the back roads he roamed as a young man.

He was quick and funny til the end.

He wasn't elderly, he was funny with a grin in his eye.

I get along really well with all the girls in their early 20's. Some of them tell me I always have something interesting to say and others comment that they like my dragon on the azz blue jeans. Acht zooo.

Elderly? Not yet, but I aspire to be, one day in the distant future. Might be dead before it happens though, who knows.

Not true - just a joke.

I was on the bus on the way home when I noticed a very attractive looking female in her early to mid twenties. And more to the point; she had noticed me. I thought "This would be a very nice way to spend the evening...", so I approached her slowly keeping good eye contact, smiling but not smiling too much. As I got close she stood up and offered me the seat thinking I was a geriatric.

In my opinion age is mostly between your ears. I have long said I have known 30 year olds that were old and 70 year olds that were young. A lot of it is your attitude. I'm 58 and in very good health ( knock on wood ) but did go through a cancer scare ( prostate ) last year. Powered through that and still ticking . I work 11-12 hours most days and while I am beat at the end of the day I can still do it . Enjoy every day and try to be happy you never know when the expiration ticket is punched !

All I'll say is that while I cannot avoid aging I will never get old.

In my profession, I'm a grey beard.
In my eyes, my hair is getting chrome streaks.
I'm 48. At 80 I will still be a bad-ass.
Hopefully.

If you look at most 80+ year old men they get huge ears. I want to get to the healthy active big ear club the meets for breakfast and eats sausage and eggs for breakfast and talks bad about the young whippersnapper 60 year old guys.

I'm glad to be developing the eyes of wisdom. Being a warrior is for kids who can't figure out any other way to get what they want. Why would an old guy stoop to that?

I thought she might have asked if she knew you? Then asked if you went to school with her grandpa?

Hey you, get off of my ______!

If you answer "cloud", you're still young at heart
If your answer is "lawn"...

Now what did you think of first ?

I have a bunch of Stones albums...mostly vinyl though. Yes, I know where Tabby came up with the "man of wealth and taste" thing.

Speaking of the devil, was in the store today. A gal was looking at the pots and pans. I said she was probably looking for that magic pan that would turn her into a great chef like Emerald. Said a couple of things back and forth when she said "I like your shoes."

I told her I said that very thing to the Pelicans today. That women find I have interesting things to say and I coordinate what I dress and that those are the things they notice. She was affirmative of both points adding that most men are colour blind.
