Is it just me or is the content on excellence light

It's seems in the recent years just less and less content. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this? I have a supreme porsche magazine collection and feel the content is missing something?

I'm trying to get rid of old magazines, you are the opposite.

Content is ok, though I've only been reading it for the last 6 years. I am not renewing by the way. Does that mean anything?

I might renew again someday...

Actually no I go back and fort on this as I love the ladies dating ect... Commitment no.

One thing I knew early on was I'd never find a woman to accept my porsche/ferrari hobby.

At 39 I know this would be impossible as if I was married the porsche would gone most likely do to the female half demanding those funds be spent on larger nicer home.

At 39 and single I've relaized I have pretty damn good. What's mine is mine.

BTW all a guy really needs is his cars and his dog!

The content is not light,

You're heavy.

It should be casual reading, if it was super-enthusiast oriented, few people would read it.

Me too! Once read, anything I have in print goes straight to the recycle bin! That stack would drive me insane.

You know, when you read "Moby Dick" the second time Moby Dick and Captain Ahab become good friends.

My hats off to any guy who can keep his porsche, his porsche hobby and be married at the same time. I'm sure it's not easy at times.

I got a bit bored with it a while ago. I usually skim through as I enjoy the photography but how many hotrod 911's or custom 356's or... can keep you interested? I do read most of the tech articles but most of the modern stuff doesnt interest me. I'm sure I still have a bunch of pano/excellence from ~15 yrs ago, just taking up space.

Part of the problem may be that it's harder and harder to customize or work on cars. Most people just order the cars the way they want them, maybe put on different wheels. But the number of people who work on their new car, even just changing the oil, has diminished. Also, the new cars have fewer problems, so there's almost nothing for a backyard mechanic to troubleshoot. Seems like almost any article with real content is about older cars. Hm.

If the two parties respect each other, it's easy. I have lots of interests and so does my wife. But I'm also interested in her hobbies and she's interested in mine.

You just need to meet a librarian with a nice 356. You'll forget all about those magazines in a flash. IMO (Note to self, mind your own business, fool)

If you have never picked up a 70s/80s christophorus magazine you missing out. Throwing them away..

They are a treasure trove of vintage era porsche adverts aftermarket parts, factory modified or special parts, performance kits or company's, tires and really infinite amount of porsche history that cannot be found on the internet.

I am finding it to be a bit lacking after a couple years of subscribing. I guess being a Boxster owner, it would be nice to see something other than 911 stuff all the time. I would love to see some hot rod Boxster and Cayman stuff. Give me more 914,928, 944 stuff too. Maybe put some stories out there about peoples project's that are not done with the absolute best. A lot of us compromise with parts and are pretty darn happy with the results. Example. Short shift kits..

There was a guy who painted a 911 about 10 years ago in his garage never having done bodywork. It took him quite a while, but he did it. Yes it was not as good as these high end shops but it still came out pretty good. There was so many dynamics to the story beyond actually painting the car. I know his story but I would love to know others stories as well. Real life stuff. If Excellence could do that, I might renew.

On the bright side, there is a magazine out of the UK I buy now and then. They really seem to cater to the whole Porsche population, not just the 911 guys. It is expensive but well worth it. A much more interesting read.

I sell it as "reference material". So far that has worked. But I also am NOT a fantasy league anything nor remotely interested in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, so that may contribute to my dispensation.

It was sort of hard when moving every 2 years before retiring from the Army but now not so much a problem.

I stopped buying it when 996's came along. Now that the Cayenne has come along I don't even browse them at the newsagent.

Be careful. You might find yourself becoming bored with cars.

How much more can be written about the 917?

I noticed it got worse when Pete Stout left. And slowly it seems to be regaining strength... Same could be said about Pano ! I have them all since #1 (excellence). I think by and large the fault lies with me: After 25+ years of reading every porsche mag under the sun including british and french, I've reached a point where it's gonna take real good writing or photography to produce something new and interesting I haven't seen a million times already ;-( But Excellence is so cheap vs. a foreign publication, seems criminal not to renew for the price of a burrito and dessert...

I'm dropping Roundel and Esses though. Same old, same old, can't stand Satch's openers about the calendar month or the final world about his rallying days... no more space either...

PS: Since I buy mostly used, I like having the collection to revisit old mags reviews of MY new-to-me car from when it came out. It's cool!
