Every time the media gets the public into a frenzy like this, the greedy low-lifes come out of the woodwork to become intentional victims in hope of hitting the lawsuit lottery.

Remember the idiots who were crashing their toyotas in hopes of getting in on a settlement?

Turns out there wasn't anything wrong with the cars but lots of folks out there (and here too) were CONVINCED the scam was real.
FFFFFFTTTTTTT!

I hope someday you will be afflicted with BPH and have to (in your opinion) stop flying.

Wow, the airlines do appear to be very dense on this issue. Yes we must listen to the flight crews but these current issues don't seem to be worthy of such disruption.

$10,000 if you voluntarily give up your seat on an overbooked flight? Does anyone believe an airline would fork over that much money on a $500/$700 seat?

I witness (in LAS) a lot of "if anybody flying on XX-### would accept $$$ to take the next flight" and see a mad rush to the counter...

It will never reach $10,000. Once it reach $1,500-2,000 they will have more volunteer then seats to replace.

We actually just flew back on Alaska Airlines from Kona, Hawaii to Seatac (Seattle) on Monday. A young couple "volunteered" to give up there two seats = $2400 plus rental car plus one night's stay PLUS 2 first class seats the next day....the wife and I just weren't fast enough to get to the front counter!! Who wouldn't want that deal...another day in Hawaii?.....PICK ME!!
