Porsche Auctions at Monterey Car Week

We just wanted to share some fun Porsches that are up for sale at Monterey Car Week. We've picked out our favorites for you below (in no particular order). What do you think they will sell for? What are your top 3 favorites?

1. 1997 Porsche 911 Cup 3.8 RSR

Porsche Guards Red - 1 of 45 it will go up for sale by the second owner. This was the last of the air-cooled NA racing Porsches.

Check out more of it here

2. 1954 Porsche 356 Super Speedster

Check out more of it here

The estimate it'll sell between $275,000 and $350,000. This Speedster comes from single family ownership and is #8 out of 21 Super Speedsters built in 1954.

3. 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS

This four cam, 4-cylinder Porsche is estimated to sell anywhere from $1,500,000 to $1,800,000. It comes with detailed documents and has been well cared for 20 years by the seller.

Check out more of it here

That poor speedster looks like it's had a rough life

Damn I'm old...I actually knew Gary Wright & Mike Eyerly...(see race history of the 904). May they Rest in peace...bought my '69 912 from Eyerly Motors in Salem, my '70T from Gary Wright who sold for the then new Continental Porsche/Audi owned by Gunter Knapp.

Gary a salesman who cared about his customers. One day, Gary driving my car on our way to lunch, he asked; "how long has your first gear sounded like this?" I responded it always sounded like that. Car was less than 1,000 miles old. When back at the dealership, the car was kept for a gearbox rebuild, a loaner car issued for my 95 miles drive back home to work.

Things were just more "family" back then.

Lovely story, Paul.

2 comments about the Speedster. No, it does not appear to have had a hard life. It has been used and enjoyed AND taken care of. There are way too many over restored Speedsters out there today and people don't realize they weren't built to the pristine standards of today [if you think this is rough and has issues- you should see what most older Ferraris looked like when the paint was stripped off! Talk about "panel beating". One look and you would instantly understand the "beating" part.]

Also, there were about 200 Speedsters built in 1954. This was #8 out of 21 with the more powerful engine, but it is the 51st speedster built. My first Speester was 80110 and was the same 1500S specification. These early Speesters were oriented towards racing with bits like aluminum seats and weighted just over 1600 Lb. My first Porsche was a '58 coupe and it was a relevation how much quicker and more fun the Speedster was. I owned them both for a while and they were night and day.

I am sorry I just like the pre 74 stuff BETTER....

GOD AND FERRY PORSCHE RESTED IN 1974.

It is just a purity of essence thing...more to form than the bloated post 73 cars.

The wealthy can afford these cars, for whatever reasons they have.

But their money cannot buy the memories of having been there when these cars were actually used.

The cars are just metal, glass, and rubber. The memories are precious.

That's pretty close to what they tell scrap-bookers when they are being turned into hoarders

1.5M + 225K or is it 300K = 1.725M or 1.8M plus CA SALES TAX

Add in the BUYERS PREMIUM...of..15% to 20% and then tell me if it "barely" did well.

I just love the intelligence coefficient on this Board.

I tuned in when two 73 911T Targa's crossed the block.
The yellow one went for something like 45K, the red one went for under 35K.
Then, an 81 Avanti went for 81K.
Wait, what???
Bill K

The announcers had never seen the cookie cutters that were mounted on the red one, weren't even if it was a Porsche wheel. !!
