Those AMG powered W124 and W126 cars are seriously rare and incredible. I am humbled beyond words.

As a point of reference the engine in the W126 is a M117 engine with AMG twin cam heads...a VERY rare engine, there is only a handful in the US.

Cool history. I did a research project on AMG's 50th anniversary earlier this year and spent half a day in Affalterbach touring AMG and HWA. So many great layers and stories. They're still a very young company in many ways and fiercely maintain a degree of independence from MBZ. Looking back, the Hammer was clearly a big inflection point in the company's history.

Timely thread

At the risk of a slight hijack, the latest issue of R&T has a little article about AMG this month, and it showed a few pictures of the first car massaged by the 2 freunde from Grossaspach:

A very accurate replica, but a replica. The original is lost to history. AMG sold it to Matra who used it for testing airplane landing gear and tires.

Fantastic and cool that you are a member here too! So what happened to BHMA, I thought they were successful financially and had a rocking business incl. many international customers?

I've been a BHMA fan since the early '80s and still have many of their brochures and AMG swag from that time period.

I even built my own 560SEC with AMG bits as I've also been a Mercedes 126 chassis fan since its debut in Europe in late 1980..it just took me a few years to make the leap to buy one and then completely go through it and take it from bone stock to:

I like that some of these rare AMGs delivered new to Japan are finding their way to our shores. The suspension on that particular W124 needs to be "altered" I am not sure why its so high. Everything else on it is very nice.

Hey S&R, speaking of suspensions, do you know anything about these guys and their kit? Current DD is a 94 sedan. Recently put new front control arms, Bilstein HDs and Bilstein T3 springs in the car and it has definitely stiffened up the ride while maintaining comfort. What I'm after is a proper sway bar more than anything but this kit looks interesting. Know them?

Been thinking about making droplinks and using a 911 Tarett swaybar kit.

it's unfortunately an hour away so I can't just go look at it. Don't want to waste the guy's time too but would be fun to drive it back to back with my car.

If that were closer my checkbook would be at serious risk.
