Wife bought me a smoker!
B-day present, I never realized, but I must have said a couple times I wanted one, so really nice surprise. Anyway, looking for goid rub suggestions paired with the wood and meat cut.
What’s everyone’s go to smoked food? Thanks in advance

Ribs!
Pulled pork, a nice roast reverse seared, ribeyes, chickens, burgers. On a learning curve with brisket but the first one turned out pretty good. What type of smoker did you get?

I really can't tell the differences between the different woods, and my meats are pork ribs, pork shoulders, chicken, turkey, duck, roast beef for sandwiches...etc
We use a lot of Cavenders for chicken and pork chops...hand made rubs for ribs (simple combo of paprika/brown sugar and other stuff) Welcome to the obsession

Buy some Cure #1 (aka Instacure #1 or Prague Powder #1) on Amazon and try some home cured and smoked bacon. It's really simple. You might not ever buy bacon again.

I tend to go with Apple chips. I prefer a mild smoke flavor.
Only use smoke for the first half of the cooking process. For a real treat, try smoking some dry rubbed full wings (not drummies or elbows ) to medium rare. Then, drop in a deep fryer for a few minutes to finish and crisp up the skin. Lightly sauce to taste. Delicious.

I tend to smoke pork ribs and pork shoulders. Hickory is the wood of choice, but various fruit tree woods can be used. I never use a rub, real barbecue doesn't need it. When you realize what a monumental pain in the ass it is to smoke meats properly, you may wish to do what tabs does and fill that thing up with other stuff so you don't waste the smoke. Sausage, even baloney...

Did a brisket yesterday. Took my small pellet smoker to the office so I could keep an eye on temps.
Plenty tender but not a very beefy flavor. Decent on nachos. Favorite is St. Louis ribs with less crutch time for some bite. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don’t have a smoker. Just the typical Weber grill. But I like to make pork ribs using this rub recipe.
BBQ rub Light brown sugar Kosher salt Smoked paprika Cayenne Garlic powder Allspice Red pepper flakes |
