Clamato.

this might be the weirdest drink ever.

clams and tomato juice. who would have thunk it? i got a bottle yesterday, because my wife wanted a Mexican shrimp cocktail. (easiest thing to make on the planet)

i have half a bottle left, i was gonna take a swig straight to see what it taste like, but saving it for a Michilada seemed like the better option.

I love that stuff. However don't drink it because of the sky high sodium content. Last time I bought a bottle, it was gone in a day.

I didn't think you could even buy this in the US?

Very common here in Canada though.

We just call them Caesars.

It's strange, no doubt.

Unfortunately, the Mott's Clamato that you probably bought is mass-produced garbage. You Americans are fortunate to have a cottage industry of sorts that produces all sorts of high quality Bloody Mary mixers. Conversely, Mott's has enjoyed a virtual monopoly in mixers for the the Canadian variant, the Caesar, and the quality suffers because of it. Only recently have other alternatives come about.

One part clamato / 3 parts beer Bud or Coors- they are great.
Leaned about it from some friends south of the boarder a long time ago.

Bud makes a pre mix in a can called Chelada, Modelo also makes one.

They are not good for you but are tasty. They will trigger a gout episode I have been told.

Clamato is my go-to--chilled with (2) pepperonchinis.

Beefmato is okay once in awhile as is spicy clamato.

Mium Mium...

"A northeastern favorite, Beefamato has been a prized ingredient in the best cocktails for many years. A tomato cocktail from concentrate, Beefamato is made from pure beef broth with a touch of worchester sauce for that extra tang. Great to have on hand for parties, sauces."

Ah the Caeser, invented right here in Calgary, Clamato and vodka with a salted rim and a celery stick. Great for hangovers

We used to use it as a base for a drink called the "Seizure." i think in Canada they call it a Caesar, but up there in January who can tell the difference?

I use Clamato in a Michelada: In a pint beer mug, add couple ounces of Clamato, 1/4 tsp Maggi sauce, 1/2 tsp Worchestershire sauce, 1/4 tsp Tabasco, a dash of black pepper and top with a Mexican beer of your choice.

This! Skip the beer and use vodka... lemon flavored vodka if you want to get fancy.

My friends teased me when they saw in in my fridge... until they tried it.

I believe I got hooked on a trip to Canada.

Born and raised in Alberta - grew up drinking the stuff and have always liked it. Can find regular Motts in most grocery stores here in Oregon, and some of them carry the spicy stuff with the yellow cap - much better!

From my experience growing up in the frozen north, Caesars are usually drunk at night while bloody mary's here in the US are a breakfast thing. Maybe it was just my family?

Funny that it wasn't until I was in my mid or even late-30's, that I finally put the connection together - CLAM juice + TOMATO juice = CLAMATO haha. It even has a picture of clams and tomatoes on the label. I pride myself on being pretty perceptive but I had a major fail on this topic...
