Sexual Harassment.

During my last few years in the Army we began noticing the uptick in people complaining (a lot of SH) as well as people being far better trained about complaining.

My next to last assignment I had a female subordinate that complained to the deputy boss that I 'made her feel uncomfortable' and 'scared her'. That was sort of taken as SH. She even had the nerve to say that she 'was a hot chick in the Army and got hit on a lot'. She was not hot in the slightest.

Her problem with me was that I expected her to work and get her work handled in a relatively speedy manner. She on the other hand thought she was some independent operator and that I shouldn't be keeping tabs on what she was doing. Never mind that I too had a boss that I had to answer to and provide answers about her work that was or wasn't being accomplished.

Glad I'm retired from that ****

My dad was in the Navy, and in the mid 80s we were stationed in Japan, so we all watched AFRTS. At the time, there was 1 AFRTS channel. I remember the "commercials" were "OpSec," "Fraud, Waste, and Abuse," and "Sexual Harrassment." In the early 80s my parents were stationed in Rota, Spain, and I spent 2 summers with them, again, I think there was a single AFRTS TV channel and I think it was running the same commercials.

I'm sure that there was probably a ton of sexual harrassment in the early days, and it needed to stop. At the same time, I have no doubt that there are people that will use and abuse that sort of thing. By going to the training, you learn exactly how to exploit the system, the buzzwords to use, etc....

These days whether male or female, "hostile work environment" is a buzzword that will probably get your complaint sent to the top of the pile, just like complaining about racism, sexism, discrimination will also get you lots of attention. And I've seen plenty of people that were "low performers" that used or tried to use those buzzwords to keep their jobs.

I was taken advantage of.

I was crushing real bad on one of the secretaries in the office who was really attractive. I was always doing things for her and covering for dumb things she did. One night I get a call. She and some guy she picked up at a bar went up to the office and kind of messed up the couch in the lounge. She got home and had an "Oh NOOOOO" moment. She wondered if I could get into the office early and flip the cushions on the couch. I was such a Casper Milk-toast in those days. But at least I was not invisible.

I worked in a factory making wiring harness for cars. There was about 200 females and about 20 guys. A LOT of sexual harassment. Oh yes, I so much looked forward to Friday drinks at that place

About 30 years ago I worked as a nurse at The Royal Adelaide hospital (Our biggest). I was a medic in the Army and it was my first job after getting out. I was 1 of 6 male nurses of 320 nurses in total! The Matron (Vietnam Vet) who never got married or had children knew my first name.

What I really don’t get is guys that have multiple affairs, I mean I haven’t been hit on in like 30 years yet there are some dogs that have multiple mistresses? How is that possible, and most aren’t that good looking or have $$.

A lot of it is not necessarily looks, but is for lack of a better term, "having game". I think game is a combination of recognizing what to me are subtle ques that the ladies put out. The other part is being able to talk to the ladies in a way that you can "close".

I'm a good looking guy, and had ladies that were interested and (I realized much, much later) were practically throwing it at me. But I had no idea that they were interested. And then even if I did talk to them, I had no idea how to close.

Around 2010 when McCaskil and Gillibrand got everyone spun up in Congress about SH and SA that they believed was rampant but was not. They were claiming something like 25,000 sexual assaults per year in DoD. I had been doing criminal solely for the preceding 6 or 7 years and at that point was a magistrate. No way that their numbers were correct. Plus they wouldn't take into account dismissed cases, Not Guilty verdicts, cases rejected after investigation. We all just had to accept their BS.

So the classes that got generated around that fiction were just a joke. Usually led by some 'trained' mid-grade NCO that probably had a GED. They would regurgitate the material on the DoD or Army level slides and have no idea what they were talking about.

One line in particular... If you have one drink, just one, you cannot consent to sexual intercourse. It wasn't an order but more of a legal opinion that your consent is invalid. Blahahahaha. The number of cases I had where alcohol was nearly 100% and usually just involved 2 drunk folks that had sex.

I would sit in those classes and my head would be on the verge of exploding. I remember one when a guy I knew was present, he was the attorney in charge of the prosecution assistance and training program for the whole Army. The 'Teacher' made that statement and he challenged her on it. It got pretty heated and was a treat to watch. Everyone else just sat there with that uncomfortable feeling you get when there is an argument that you aren't an involved party.

Fact. In the mid 70's while in uni I worked in a Thomas' bakery on the 3rd shift. There was a woman of that exact description who was giving out BJs in one of the back corners of the warehouse. She was gross to say the least. She once asked me if " I'd want the best BJ ever". I informed her that if she ever approached me again she'd be out of work. Apparently, she told the guys that she serviced, and I started getting a lot of stick after that. I didn't care since the job was a bridge and I had a gf for whom I cared deeply. Full disclosure: later in my career hotter office chicks and I did meet up for some mutually agreed fun.

One chick that came to work at our office was quickly nicknamed "the machine" as she was working her way through all the men of the office. She was about a 5 sober, and a 6 after a few beers.

I never did hook up with her as I was dating a chick at the time, and that is not my style. She left the company after she had taken on all the men that she could "service". That was all back in the late 70s to early 80s and it was before anyone had ever heard the term sexual harassment. Aids was just a weigh loss candy product, and Hepatitis C would not been discovered for another 9 years.

On TV and in movies most of the hookers are pretty women with a heart of gold. I have never been to Vegas as an adult, and I can say I have never yet seen a hooker that I would even think of paying for even if I was a 18 years old again with raging hormones. They were all way too ugly to want to "be with" and even if they paid me, it would be a absolute NO.

Back in the days when I still lived at home, the TV news had story of a "lady" working at the local city dump as a hooker, she was charging $5 a pop so to speak. The entire family was watching and we all broke out laughing. Then they showed her mug shot and and we all laughed harder. She was hideous. So a really ugly female human, at the city dump for 5 bucks. Never ever been that desperate. Yet some guys were. Barf.
