Game seven will either be huuuge or a blowout. It won't take long to figure out which.
In the meantime, while the Caps and the Bolts beat each others brains in, the Knights are resting. Looks like Vegas has an edge going into the finals. |
Sooooo who is picking whom to win tonight? I'm going with Tampa at home.
|
Heart says one thing. Head (and history) say another. Caps don't have happy game 7 record...
|
I would like to see the Ovi curse broken , I think he has been good for the league . He is a one man wrecking ball and can do it all and will . Having said that I think Tampa squeaks this one out .

This one could go either way. I'll make my prediction about 10 pm eastern time.

Summoning the power of Dale Hunter!
Game 7 OT winner from 1988: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we7AnA9Lv2E Go Caps!!! |
I'd rather see the Caps take a 3-0 win with Ovi having at least one goal.
As an added bonus, we won't have to see Crosby's face tonight. |

Ovi got his one. Let's see if there are 2 more? |
wow what a fight at the 15 min mark of the first period!
|
That was a sho nuff original 6 kinda fight. No dancin' no prancin'!
Caps are playing well but the breaks are going their way. When your defenseman kicks the puck past your keeper but it hits the post...you got a break. TB just can't seem to get their sticks on the puck when it matters. Your forward skirts around the keeper, puts the puck back into the paint behind the keeper and your man crashing the net can't connect!...the other guys just got a big break. Did -911 call the blowout? hmmm edit: 9 minutes to go...TB seems to have given up, what a disappointing game 7. |
Go Caps!
This Stanley Cup Finals could be good! |
Wow, what a great game if you were rooting for the Caps. And if you're a Bolts fan, I'm sure you're bitter, as none of the pucks seemed to bounce their way. Caps fans know what that feels like from years past. I agree with Flatbutt, though - the Bolts seemed really flat in that 3rd period. No push at all, which is surprising.
On a serious note, this is special for me. My youngest has been a huge Caps fan for years, and it gave us something to bond over and talk about even during those "difficult" times teenagers go through when we otherwise had nothing in common and had a hard time communicating. Now she's 18 and goes away to school later this year. I figured we wouldn't get much chance to do that after this season, so I'm enjoying this with her quite a bit right now :) |
Rob that's great man. Good to have something to share with your kid, especially hockey!
|
Congrats to the Capitals for last nights win and the series win . They earned it and have broken the Ovi curse . Cup finals start Monday in Vegas hoping for a great series .
|
The newcomer Knights versus the seasoned Caps.
Dear Hockey gods, please grant us a full series that has a game 7 that goes to triple OT. |
Maybe Ovi gets his name on Lord Stanley's mug the year Rocket Richard's name is removed!
|
For some reason I think the finals will only go 5 - 6 games . I also think home ice advantage will be critical .

Tampa was beat when Ovi got that first goal in less than 2 minutes into the game. They tried to rally so energy but never got it going. Puck luck for the Holtby didn't hurt. The 3rd period was just sad. Tampa was mentally defeated at that point.
Moving on to the final there are some conflicting factors. Ovi has beaten the 1st and 2nd round curse and gone all the way to the finals. Momentum is on the side of the Caps. A strong start will help them out. Ovi now has to face Fleury and h's had some bad memories with him in the past. The Caps got pretty banged up getting past games 6 and 7 and there isn't much rest. All said and done, I go back to my first rule: no goalie, no cup. Fleury has been stronger than Holtby. Barring a major strategy move by Trotz or some serious injuries to the Knights, I think Vegas will take it but hey I've been wrong before. My heart wants to see Ovi have a Ray Bourque moment. |
