MAF went 29 outa 30. That's good Keepin'. VGK really played well tonight.
|
Vegas used their energy to cause the Jets to make bad plays. That said, the moment that Vegas relaxed, the Jets put major pressure on Fleury and he had to put on a clinic to keep the game. I think that the Jets have the edge with more beef and more sharp-shooters. Its their to lose. The West will be won in 6 or 7.
The Caps are dominating. I predict they will take the Conference in 5 or 6. Of the remaining teams there is no one to be against (like Montreal or Cindy) and the B's and the Preds are out so, I really hope that Ovi gets the cup he deserves. |
Vegas has made an amazing run no matter what. I think you are correct about the Jets but this is a very fast set of teams so who knows. I would enjoy watching Ovi have his Bourque moment.

Vegas definitely was the better team last night & deserved the win - no question. The close call Fleury had in the opening minutes & surviving it
unscathed was the harbinger of things to come. Marchessault's 'almost-a-breakaway' goal after a terrible Jets line change basically sealed it. Had A couple more grade 'A' scoring chances not resulted in posts after, the game could have had the makings of a blowout-out. The Jets were never really in sync after going down 2. The Golden Knights have erased any lingering doubts as to their emergence as one helluva serious contender. The Winnipeg Jets, their fans & all fans of hockey have been put on notice, Vegas is for real. Wednesday's contest opening minutes should be quite the track meet with both sides trading chances. Is T-Bay going to win a game? The Caps look mean & hungry. Ovie looks to be a man possessed. It appears some of you Eastern guys are softening (& rightfully so) & giving Ovie his due - Good onya! Cheers JB |

Well Tampa Bay found their footing tonight didn't they. The Caps put 37 on Vasilevsky and he stopped 35! I'd say that penalties hurt the Caps as well.

Tampa finally looked like the team they were during the season , Stankos appears to have finally woken up which they need , Bucherov ( sp ? ) also . They played with confidence hopefully they can tie the series and make it a best of three . Seems like no one wants to win at home in this series
During one of the intermission periods last night one of the announcers stated at the beginning of the year Vegas was a 500 to 1 shot of making it to the Cup finals , it is crazy to think that after how they have played this year . They could be a team of destiny crazier things have happened . I'm really hoping both series go 7 and that we have a great Stanley Cup final . This has been the most enjoyable hockey for me to watch in a long time , just seems like great match ups across the board . |
The playoff season has had some great games this year. It is interesting how much the away teams have won.
In the past, the mantra was "if you want to win in the playoffs you have to win away games" well, this year it has been "if you want to win in the playoffs you have to win your HOME games". Go figure. The Lightning really restored some credibility with the win against the Caps in game 3 but they got a lot of help from a very sloppy Caps team. Vegas has their first home game against the Jets tonight. Let's see how it goes with them tied 1 game each. |
Very enjoyable game last night . Is there any other team in the league that has four lines that can skate as fast as Vegas ? They just seem to have an extra gear when it comes to speed . They are very exciting to watch ! They just keep coming and coming I can see how a team would have a hard time beating them . Their speed also make for great defense , they swat away a LOT of offensive chances for the other teams . Good stuff .

I would love to see MAF get another Cup. He is playing lights out.

Hey Flat - your man, M.A. Fleury stole that one for Vegas last night. Ya gotta love the guy's "compete level"
Both tenders were pretty much dominant save Hellebuyck 's brain cramp on Neal's goal. The Jets were not all that great in the first but that 3rd period was something else. Two fast teams playing the game at about Mach 2. Tis the season gents - let's hope T-Bay & the Caps can measure up to last night's contest although it might be too much to expect. Ovie vs. The Knights - anybody?? Cheers JB |
Ovie v Knights...speed v experience...youth and skill v old age and treachery? ;)
MAFs two saves on Schiefele late in the 3rd just had me shaking my head. The first one off of the toe, OK nice lateral movement. But the second one...sacred feces...unless you've ever tried to get back onto your skates from the butterfly AND move laterally the other way then it's hard to appreciate how great that second save was. Wheelers pass to Scheifele was dead nuts on for a perfect one timer and I think MAF saw it coming but he failed to steer the rebound away from the slot and I'd bet when he saw Scheifele there in the high slot he let out an "OOOh sheet!" BTW Netflix has a show called 360 that features sports interviews. I saw one with my goal hero Ed Giacomin. He echoed my sentiments about the current style of goalkeeping perfectly. There is also a nice segment with Mike Eruzione. |
If you aren't excited about tonight's games someone needs to check to see if you have a pulse. Vasilevskiy's stealing the show. Without his miracle saves it would be 4 or 5-2.

MAF ROBBED last night's game away from the Jets. |

My all time fav Goalie was Dominic Hasek (aka slinky). After him it would be Tim Thomas. Both men were entertaining to watch. |

Only if they lose. Either way, I guarantee I know what they will be doing in practice tomorrow morning.
|
True, absolutely. But make that 0 for 5 now and giving up the third goal after having #5 killed. It is only 1 but it's a big 1.
edit:OOOFA that one hurt. Best of 3 now. |
When Killorn scored I said that the Caps need to pull the goalie immediately (with over 7 minutes to go). There was no way they were getting another one past Vasilevskiy.
The better goalie won that game. |
Last nights game another thriller now a best of 3 series . Will someone finally win at home ? Some great goal tending . Looking forward to tonights game my gut tells me Vegas will win tonight but time will tell . I wonder if Ovi/Caps are going to start wondering " uh oh here we go again " . That would be bad if Tampa has gotten into their heads .
