Good looking bracket Joe.
Yup the Leaf's deployed the good ole prevent defense with about what, 6 minutes left in the 2nd? It doesn't work in football and it doesn't work in hockey.
Urass didn't face a shot until only 8 minutes were left and that was a token shot on goal even I could have stopped, well maybe.
Surprised Babcock hasn't gotten the Leaf's over the hump yet. Brunes are lucky Mathews was in Tahiti for the series. Bolts will certainly give stiffer competition.
BTW... I'm not one of those greedy team fans that it's the Cup or bust for the Pens this year. My only hope is that if they do lose before hoisting again that it is done at home so the fans can give the team an appropriate thank you for the past three years.

GO PENS!!

Looking forward, the Bolts have better defense and more scorers but, the Bruins took 3 out of 4 regular season games this year. The only one they lost was at the very end of season when they were totally out of gas.

Bolts 0 for three against New Jersey
just sayin

And when ol' Pie Face was playing there?
Good one Flat. I'd all but forgotten Johnny "Pie" McKenzie. Good to see a few of us 'older' dudes remembering the more colourful players in this great game.

I'll reiterate my thoughts on the Preds/Jets series; some old time 'fire-wagon' hockey with a number of very skilled players in the mix - Jets in 7.
Two heavy-weight powerhouses going at it at tooth & nail. This series (in my estimation) should feature some of the best hockey of this year's playoffs
although the possibility looms large the victor will be so beat-up.....

Vegas vs Sharks - it's a series if Jumbo is healthy - Sharks in 7 - the big "IF" being the determining factor. There could be a lot of 'north-south' speed in this one.

The Bolts have too much firepower for the Broonz & Rask is looking very ordinary these days. In spite of my best efforts to the contrary, the 'rodent visaged'
one still irritates to the point it behooves me to cheer for him & his team to fail - albeit in critical hockey moments only. In any case,
I'd still bet on this year's Bolts to be the eventual victors in a series which has the potential to become quite watchable.

The Pens vs. Cap - hell - this has become an annual or springtime rite of passage. This could be Ovie's year & perhaps more importantly for him,
his last legitimate kick at the can. We out west didn't get a great many opportunities to watch him perform but like all good ones, he was fun to watch.
Having said that, I would like to witness a Pens 3-peat. Deal with that - Crosby slaggers.

Till next time
Cheers
JB

As much as I would love to see a certain member of this board eat crow when the Pens (I am always tempted to slip an "i" in there) lose to the Bruins, I'd like to see Ovi make in another round. If the Bruins aren't going to take the cup, I would root for:
Ovi - he deserves one (think Ray Bourque)
Preds -props to the home state team
Vegas - great storyline and double bonus points if Marc Andre beats the team that dumped him

and, just so there is no mistake, I will root for ANYONE but the team with the crier (no names to be mentioned to upset Buck).

Ray Bourque that was a great moment!

Great game. Lots of action. Should be a great series. I hope it goes 7 games.

GO (away) PENS ;)

Buckterrier 04-27-2018 02:31 AM

How the hell...

Por_sha911 04-28-2018 01:14 PM

Game 1 between Bruins and Tampa isn't as much of a walk in the park for Tampa and (thankfully) Rask is bringing his game. This should be a good game.
I think that Tampa looked better in round one because they played a much lesser team. Anyone can look good against a low quality opponent. That isn't to say that Boston has sure thing.
The same holds true for the Caps and Pens.

Good one Joe!

Urass is, (so far), on his game.
Brunes just scored again. We'll have to have a friendly wager IF the Pens & Broons meet for the conference title.

flatbutt 04-28-2018 02:53 PM

My my my Tampa has had a very bad day...at home no less!

Por_sha911 04-28-2018 03:19 PM

When the #1 line of the Bruins is scoring points, the opponent will be having a bad day. That said, they went blank for 3 games against the Leafs.

Joe, you'll never believe it but I'm actually hoping on the Bruins bandwagon in this series!:p

Calgary Flames fans are still major Pissed Off at THE GOAL that was waved off in OT of game 6 of the 2004 Stanley Cup finals (Flames VS Lightning).....EVERYBODY KNOWS IT WAS IN!!! FLAMES SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARDED THE CUP!!!
:mad::mad::mad:

Go Bruins!

Buckterrier 04-29-2018 09:12 AM

NHL is become the NFL, they way they protect the QBs. I think Vegas got boned last night with the goalie interference in the 1st OT when the score only to have the goal disallowed. Then lose in the 2nd OT.
Oh well...

GO PENS

Por_sha911 04-29-2018 11:30 AM

In spite of the goalie interference call, the game was great. Both teams playing their hearts out (similar to the game one of the Pens/Caps)
I can enjoy a great game even when I don't have an interest in either team. If I wasn't a Bruins fan (Yeah, who would have guessed?) I probably wouldn't have watched the game 1 with Tampa when the gap got big. Blowouts are only fun if you are rooting for the winning side.
Lets see if the Caps can even it up shortly.

What's sad, Flat, is that it is sometimes in seasons when the game was one even the Bruins was playing. That long drought before 2010-11. Gosh I miss Tim Thomas.

In other news, what a game with the Caps/Pens. If the Caps got run over again it would have been lights out for them this year. THey roared back hard. The goal/no goal issue in the 3rd? I think that the officials think the white that the announcers were seeing was snow on the ice (that was my thoughts when they first showed the closeup) but, I might be looking at it through anyone-but-Crosby eyes... (how's that for truth in advertising?). Either way a good game and since not a one goal game it wasn't quite as key to the outcome. The sandwich to Dumoulin will be reviewed but it looked like clean hockey to me. What was missed was a trip to a Cap going to the net and a knee on knee going to a Pen.

Buckterrier 04-29-2018 03:26 PM

3 stars of the of Pens/caps game today...

1). nhl
2). ref
3). other ref

Good job nhl. YOU SUCK

GO PENS, REGARDLESS

flatbutt 04-29-2018 05:21 PM

Joe, agreed that it was a must win for the Caps. But Murray was not looking good. How he missed that opening shot from Ovie is a puzzle. I also agree that the no goal call was correct. Now they go to the (new-ish) Igloo and we'll see how the Caps do there.
